Action

Ok, check it out..

On pretty much all my guitars the action is nice and low from frets 1 through 8 or 9. From the 15th to 22nd frets, the action is way too high.

Am I supposed to loosen the truss rod? Take it to a tech? I'm in Korea so there aren't many techs around my area and I don't feel like waiting until I get back to the states.

thanks for any help on this matter

I don't know much about the whle guitar set up thing, but from what you've said, it sounds like the neck is bowng downwards slightly.

Sounds similar to what my brother's guitar is like.

If you don't know exactly what you're doing, I would take it to a tech, as you could really **** up a guitar if you're not sure. I wouldn't feel confident about it.

Plus getting it set up might improve the playability overall and you'd get a beautiful new instrument back.

I may be completely wrong though, but maybe more people will read it by me posting and they can help you out.

The truss-rod pulls AGAINST the tension the strings. If the truss rod is too slack the neck bows forwards and give a really high action on the upper frets.

If the truss rod is too tight the fret board is too flat and you get a lot of fret buzz.

To tighten the truss rod turn the adjusting nut clockwise. To slacken it turn it anti-clockwise. When adjusting it only turn it 1/4 of a full turn at a time. Give it time to settle down, and adjust it more if you need to.
