Trouble with ZR trem

So I bought myself a nice new Ibanez a couple of months back, with the new ZR trem. The problem is on the point where you screw in the handle, the ridges on the little housing part have worn out and now the arm won't lock in place because there's nothing for the outisde screw bit to hold onto. Anyone have any ideas?

If the threads inside the block are worn out I don't think there is much you can do. That's strange, usually the bar is the one that needs to be replaced after some heavy use. You could try wrapping a bit of electrical tape onto the trem bar's end to make a tighter fit, see if that helps a bit -either that or replace the block with a new one.

Contact Ibanez and tell them that their system is defective. See if you can scrape some money out of them. :P

Then swab the inside of the pedal send it to the lab for testing in a week or two they'll be able to tell you.

If you find a tab of acid in there take it.
The further back you trip the older it is. If its a bad trip then you know its from the 80's.

Download the breakdown picture of the trem off of their site, figure out what part you need, and order your parts thru any Ibanez dealer,GC,etc.Dealing with Hoshino is a hassle,IMO,but,I personally havent had any trouble with my ZR other than stripping out a couple of the saddle locking screws and having to replace em.You might try to go thru their customer service and see if anything can be done.See if the dealer you bought the guitar thru can help you.Good luck...

anyone got any ideas on where I can find an Ibanez dealer or anywhere else to get the parts in Surrey (UK)?

Try using the map here.

Headstock are the UK distributors of Ibanez, Laney and Tama. That map has all the retailers they supply.

Theyve got it where a regular Joe cant get a part direct from Hoshino. You can get a cap or a Tshirt, but no parts...My local store ordered mine for me this past week.I'm actually waiting on the exact same part, plus a new arm, outside screw and the little ferrule that goes inside it...Laneys not any better.I had to go thru a Washburn/Hohner dealer to get a Laney part for my Laney amp.

I managed to get the part pretty easily from playrecord.net . They're out of stock at the moment, but ordering them in. Does the part on the inside have to come separately, and could I just take the one I've already got out of the old holder and put it in the replacement?
