Yet another 'Output problem'
Ok so a wire came loose and i tried soldering it on. I couldn't really find a part on the metal where i could get a clean signal. I won't lie to you - i cut a bit of the wire off (slightly) as thought that more of the metal prongs would come out as it was in a bit of a state. There were no metal prongs and now the output jack has completely disconnected from the wire (i feel a complete prat about this and am gutted)
As i now don't feel confident enough about fixing it (i'll just play the damn thing from now on) is it... (1) Fixable (2) Costly I'm gonna take it to my local guitar shop tomorrow but i'm so anxious about this. Can it be re-wired? Cheers

Just opened the back of guitar, it's a grey lead going from the volume pot to the main output. Can this easily be fixed/replaced?

Don't worry.....it's an easy fix.
This is a common problem, and one I deal with every day. All that needs to be done is a simple reconnection to the output jack......in fact, it will take longer to heat the soldering iron than it will to solder the wire! That grey wire is a shielded wire.....there is a probably a White wire.....thats the signal wire, and a bare wire....thats the shielding, which is your earth. Once you get them in the the right places, you'll be all set. corvette |
