I use a Boss GE-7 after my RAT2. Makes a world of difference. I love Rats but find the frequencies need more than a little tweaking. I personally find them too bright, so I dial up (yes, on Rats it's up not down to mellow it up) and boost the mids and a little bass after.

What I thought sounded good to my ears before EQ, now sounds OK but lacking bottom end and crunch, compared to when I kick the EQ in. It sounds like I'm switching to a Mesa Boogie.

If I was starting out all over again, I'd buy an EQ before any other pedals.

And if not, is there one that does?

ha I can't imagine collecting all the same pedals, and then thinking a grunge pedal will help approximate Morello's sound.

Especially usefull when the lead goes into a solo, lets me fill that void thats left.

I tend to use my GEB-7 (Sniper modded also) more often then any other EQ.

Strangely he pulls it off almost exactly. A new amp cost too much (with all the pedals to buy), so instead he pushes a bass amp hard. The proof is in the pudding though, and I'd bet that he could fool alot of people into thinking a recording of him was a recording of Morello. What I can't imagine is how much time it took to tweak the amp and pedal settings to get the sound right.

Let him write something orginal and have people think it's Morello, and I'll be convinced.

yeah, I know, but you can't adjust the EQ's without having them on can you? When you play in as many different venues as I do, you need to be able to tweak the EQ a bit.

FYI I usually leave the clean channel on my amp set flat and use the EQ to bring up the low, mediun and high, and drop the frequencies in between. and then with the muff I like it with more bottom and low mid, and the high mid cut and a slightly boosted high. I haven't found any certain setting for my drive pedals (DLS and Flexdrive) I am leaning toward a mid boost for the DLS, and the flexdrive doesn't need anything. I only use the dirty channel of the amp on its own so I have the most different drive sounds possible. I think I counted 7 or 8 different tones depending on combinations.

You can save 9 different ones. Then, with the pedal on or off, you can skip forward through the 9, but you have to do it by hand. The EQ-20 lets you use the right pedal to alternate between the currently selected saved EQ setting, and the current manual EQ setting. The left pedal switches the EQ-20 on or off.

I use a Saved setting as my Rhythm EQ, and the Manual setting as my Solo Boost. I can toggle between the two quickly and easily. It's my EQ and my boost.
