Yeah that's him haha. I heard he studied at Julliard but Welladjusted says that it was just a joke. Either way he's an extremely talented guitar player whether he's in a "joke" band or not. Personally I think Tenacious D's stuff blows about 99% of the stuff on the radio these days out of the water.

So, in the context of pure technique, no mention of Buckethead? He's managed to pump out an ungodly amount of material (something like 26 albums) and has quite a few tunes based on melody and feeling.

My top twenty-two , in alphabetic order (just to have an order, since I'm a nonconformist )

Buckethead

Kurt Cobain - Nirvana

Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins

The Edge - U2

Robert Fripp - King Crimson

John Frusciante - Red Hot Chili Peppers

David Gilmour - Pink Floyd

Johhny Greenwood - Radiohead

Kirk Hammet - Metallica

George Harrison - The Beatles

Jimi hendrix

James Iha - Smashing Pumpkins and Aperfectcircle

Adam Jones - Tool

Larry LaLonde - Primus and Possessed

Tom Morello - Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave

Jimmy Page - Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin

Joe Perry - Aerosmith

Kim Thayil - Soundgarden

Steve Vai

Stevie Ray Vaughan

Jack White - White Stripes and Racontuers

Steven Wilson - Porcupine Tree

I'm so happy, 'cause today I found my friends, they're in my head ~ Kurt Cobain

It's very difficult. No effects, not a huge amount of distortion, just a straightforward solo, and rough as hell.

Here's how I play it:
