Boss OS-2 vs. Proco Rat2

So, for Xmas i'm getting 2 pedals. The first is the Boos GE-7 (graphic EQ), and the second is going to be a Distortion/OD.

I'm torn between the Boss OS-2

http://www.soundhaus.de/produkte/images/1000361.jpg

or the Proco Rat2.

http://www.pedalgeek.com/images/prod...o/pcr2_big.jpg

I like both. From what I've done with them, they're both very versatile and have great drive tones.

I really can't choose. I could be really shallow and pick the rat just because it looks cooler in my opinion , but if anyone has any reasons to recommend one over the other, it'd be appreaciated. I'm really stuck.

I prefer the Rat because it can more easily create 60s fuzzy sounds. If that is something in which you are interested, then you might want to lean in that direction. That said, they are both good pedals imho.

The Rat for the reasons El Del mentioned. If you want more OD/distortion than fuzz and like the Boss SD-1/DS-1 then you'll want the OS-2, though.

I like the os-2 but only with certain amps, and only with tube amps. so I'd get the rat. I love my rat in every situation.

Rats all the way !
Versatility, True By Pass, Rich Harmonics, better overall quality.
I would consider a Turbo Rat.
It's supposed to have Less Compression and more Headroom.
I've had one for a while. I don't like Dist Pedals very much, but if I have to go with one, I would choose the Turbo Rat again.

Same here; Rat!

(and I never really liked the OS-2)

Consider some mods and it will sound even better!

I checked out a RAT and a Boss BD2 yesterday and the RAT was far more versatile than the BD2 or any other Boss OD/distortion I've tried. I'm tempted to get one myself.

Funny that you would compare those two, as the Rat & BD-2 is my fav. OD/Dist. boxes, and i cascade them oh so often !

I love BOTH my Rat & BD-2 in same amounts !
