Catalinbread Hyperpak or Mojo Hand Mule?

I'm torn between these two. Is there anyone who's tried both and compared?

I've never tried the Mojo Hand Mule, but I own the Hyper Pak and would highly recommend it. It's my favorite dirt pedal. It's very versatile for only having two knobs.

I quite like the mule. It sounds really unique. It might depend a bit on what guitar you are playing and what amp you are using.

Do any of these boost or cut any frequencies in the least bit? I'm really wanting it to do what the MXR Micro Amp does, but with more drive. Basically, I'm wanting overdrive with no tone coloration. Thanks for your input guys.

A little off topic, but does anyone own a early, one-knob Hyper Pak? There is one on eBay as we speak that I wouldn't mind bidding on? What does the one knob control?

It controls the volume output. It's like having a two knobbed version with the gain maxed. You control the amount of gain with the volume knob of your guitar.

As I just mentioned on another thread the Hyperpak retains the sound of your amp...it just makes it dirty. I used it on my carvin XV212 and it had more natural sounding OD than the amp did. I didn't notice any tone coloration just some really nice drive and an incredible amount of boost. My only complain is thta it is a little noisy.

I am a huge fan of the Mule. I haven't compared it to the hyperpak, but I can tell you about the Mule.

Very tweedy in its tone. Gritty drive. I often use the metaphor that if the Mule was a person, it would be Steve McQueen.

To my ears, it seems to bring out the higher bottom end just a bit, more like an enhancement than a boost.

very versatile too, can go from a slightly dirty boost to fuzzy stuff depending upon your rig.

If you didn't know, it's basically a Red Llama, and everything I have seen from those who have both say they cannnot tell a difference. So, whatever you read about the Lllama, you can assume for the Mule.

I use it a a booster into fuzz and distortion, as well as kick it with a boost for some extra fuzz.

Mind you, all my experience with it is with Teles and a strat into Fender and Fender-y amps.
