Delay DD-3 madness

I've bought a used boss dd-3.
It works perfectly with the 9v battery, but it doesn't work with a 9v psa adaptor: better: it works but with the fireworks inside!!!! booms, crackles, hiss....why?

Well could it be anything...

1. Have you taken the battery out before pluggin the mains in? Most pedals don't like both at the same time.

2. As it has no warranty to void, I'd *carefully* open it up and check for any obvious wiring faults. Usually I find if a pedal goes wrong, it's pretty obvious what's causing it. However, sometime the multimeter has to come out.

3. Is the PSA the Boss one, or a multi voltage one - if so check the voltage and polarity (center negative for boss).

Can't think of much else for the moment, hope some of that helps. If I think of anything else I'll post it.

Cheers,

Stu

only with an adapter i hear a big and echoed POP!

ps:

1. battery removed when adapter used
2. it seems not to have problems inside (in fact with the battery it's all right)
3. the polarity of the adapter is correct. If I try a lover voltage it seems to work better

That's an odd one.

Bearing in mind that it works with the battery, it must either be the adapter (have you tested it with an alternative adapter?) or something in the path between the adapter socket and the circuit.

What do you have to lower the voltage to, to make it better?
