1) taking what you said literally in a song context, the DL4 cannot ADD more delay on top of another one (or preset). it IS fantastically versatile though, and since the knobs are large you can always dial more of whatever in with the tip of your toe/shoe.

as far as i know, the magicstomp CANNOT do this.
(unless you try this: have one preset your first reverb, then take the exact same kind but add more time/decay/whatever to it, then save that as the next patch).
but be careful, you only get 3 patches in 'performance mode'.

2)for the DL4: yes ! out of the box, it comes defaulted to the True Bypass mode, where the delays do not trail off.

to switch this into non-TB (don't know what kind of bypass this mode IS), have the pedal off, hold down the 1st and 3rd stomp switches at the same time (from left to right) and put your input cable in to turn the modeler on.

the DL4 doesn't make any extra noise, at least my model doesn't, and i'm keeping it on the non-TB mode for trail offs.

I LOVE THIS LOOPER. it KILLS the dd-20 !

and yay, thank God for your downhill battle link !!

1... Is it possible when using the DL-4 to have 2 of the delays on at the same time? IE have one patch delaying a song and then turn another on to ADD more delay or would it turn the first delay off. How about with the Magic Stomp in performance mode, can that do it?

2... Is it possible to have the delay sound trail off once the effect has been turned off? DL-4 and/or Magic Stomp?

Thanks...
1. No, No sampling.
2. Yup.

The dl-4 however is an amaaazing delay (I like it over the dd-20, mainly because it supports use of an expression pedal to control delay parrameters...sexy, much so) so if you would prefer to hold off on getting a reverb unit, and focus on delay for now and buy a very good reverb unit in the future...but if reverb is more your thing go for the magic stomp.

...sausagefest

I took an old Crate footswitch and plugged it into the back of my DL-4, it acts like the expression pedal without the middle ground. Six presets, hot damn!

I'm thinking that I'll go with the entire Line 6 get up.

I don't really NEED the extra reverb, because I've got that on my Road King, but having a Reverb rack would increase the versatility whilst minimising the tap dancing on my board. I can NEVER move fast enough to turn things on quick enough. I'm very anal about that.

I wonder if this works with any footswitch?

I think you mis-understood me. Or I mis-understood you guys....

If I have patch 1 turned on, on the DL-4 so I'm playing with delay on. If I stomp for patch 2 does it auto turn patch one off or will both delays be turned on? Sorry

In my Line 6 experience, I think it will just change over to patch 2 and patch 1 will be turned off.

Balls, It'd rule so much if you could have a few doing at a time.

So do I. I can't see why they don't update them with different (meaning more) models and 5 patches with the tap tempo. Just make it bigger and better.

I always thought it'd be neat if they did a compressor modeller for all of the $2000+/unit studio compressors. They'd probably need to do some higher quality conversion and processing to keep it transparant, but that could appeal to a lot of people who can't afford LA-2As, 1176s and Distressors (amongst many others).
that would be so amazing. I guess the problem is that most people use stuff like the LA-2As and Ueris and whatnot more with Vocals than with guitars. Most people recording vocals have switched to software emulations of these units...

Line 6 would be foolish to drop the pedal line.. it's been a HUGE hit for them. hell, a DL-4 is on just about every board in the world now!

They need to update the Studio Pros to have digital I/O, then they'd be fine. The software emulations of those units tend to be $300 a piece--not too cheap.

The DL-4 did really well, but I don't know about the others. Just take a look at how much they get bashed on this board.
