DIY Fuzz factory - should this schematic work?

Having searched around for a while I found this schematic for a fuzz factory clone

http://matsumin.gozaru.jp/contents/j...ory_layout.gif

I have found other schematics with exactly the same components list so I started building it. Only I can't get it to work. I had to substitute the 5k pots for 4.7k pots and the 5.1 k resistor for a 5.6K, purely because those parts weren't available anywhere I looked.
Im currently going over the board with a multimeter to test connections but can anyone spot any obvious faults in the schematic?
Any help would be great
Thanks

Looks like people really don't want it there! If any one is good with electronics message me and I'll send them this schematic and another french one.
Thanks for the help

Anybody know if this is correct?

I can't see anything wrong with it,
but I don't have a BS170 to test it right now...

Yep, that should work....

Alas, I have some popping problems with this unit; when I turn the gain knob in bypass mode and I switch the unit on I get a loud popping which will leave when I press the bypass knob a few times........

That does not sound good

I've read posts from Zvex in other forums saying none of the schematics he's seen online has ever been correct. So even if your layout "works" (and it looks like it should), chances are it's not a true clone of the Fuzz Factory.

That said, I don't own an FF, so I can't compare. Maybe someone who actually owns the pedal would be willing to crack it open and compare the guts to this layout? Any takers? (Zvex doesn't goop his pedals, does he?)

The FF is correct

Z just keeps up the story so no-one is sure they have a working version

I understand what he's doing and respect his decision to do so. He's got to make a living, so saying 'yes thats right' to a schematic that costs about £20 to make is like shooting yourself in the foot!
I'd love to afford z Vex and figure I will buy his stuff one day when I have the cash. But right now im a poor student. Building pedals is a cheap and fun thing to do in my spare time. Is it really wrong to do it?

Are you talking about the SHO or the FF?
With the FF, I imagine you could put a high value
(1-5M?) resistor before the input Cap and tie it to Ground. But that might effect the input impedance.

Either way, I don't think it's right that a circuit like that should sell for £140. Even with the paintjob.
