The Gonk is a cool pedal, but not a great ring modulator. You can't tune the internal oscillator, so you could play everything near the key of B/Bflat. The Gain circuit is a Grunge...insane amounts of Gain. Cool pedal, great gain, weak ring mod...very unique.

I've never played or heard the Big Briar.

I own a Frostwave Blue Ringer v2 and think it's great. Dual inputs...voltage control for the frequency of the internal oscillator... can be used as a kickass tremolo pedal if set right...

It's a great pedal.

The Electro Harmonix Frequencey Analizer is supposed to be a pretty bitchin ring mod, but I've never tried it.

On the other hand, if anyone is serious about buying a Gonkulator pm me.

8- Asking me to get closer to the stage or to put my hands in the air. If you have to ask, then you suck.

9- Taking 45 minutes to get set up for a half hour set.

If you can pick up a Gonk cheap go for it. I got mine for $30 and it's my main distortion pedal right now.

Or I use the ring mod side in conjucntion with my Blue Ringer for dual-ring mod-madness!
