EHX Micro POG

just got one in at work yesterday, been playing the hell out of it.

for those not in the know on it, it's got 3 knobs: one for the original signal, one for the sub octave, and one for the octave above.

my analysis:

pretty much the same effectiveness as the regular POG, just missing a few of the features. i really liked using the original signal on full, cutting out the sub octave completely, and using the octave up at just under 12:00. created a really cool electric 12 stringish kind of sound.

anyone else gotten a chance to play with one?

If you mean "can it track chords", then yes, it's polyphonic. But the Micro only has octave up and down, so it can't really "create" a chord with just one note.

I think the new POG looks really cool, but without an expression pedal I can't help but feel its applications are limited. Im in the market for this type of thing but Im still erring towards the whammy.
Anyone heard anything about the pitch shifting on the holy stain yet?

I'm wondering this as well. If the pitch shifting is good, then I will get this pedal. Even if the tremolo, reverb, and fuzz suck.

+1 on the pitch-shifting for the price.

I think I remember reading that the gain section was analog, so we can take comfort in that. I have faith in it. EHX seems to be on the ball lately with their new stuff.

The POG is around £100/$200 and the Holy Stain is £60/$120. Sorry I dont know what that is in NZ $. Im cautiously optimistic about the holy stain. I figure it'll be wacky like most EHX pedals but worry that its digital and that its a multi effect (read reviews of The Worm!)
Its also worrying that no demos or information have come surfaced considering ALL the other stuff has had a review or demo somewhere.

I'm intrigued as well by the Holy Stain, it seems like a bargain. So any reviews would be great.

Also, the Micro Pog, I would almost rather just spend the addition $100 to buy the regular Pog.

I think the pitch shift on the Holy Stain is going to be more like a rhythmic pitch shift.

I don't see why people say they'd rather go for a whammy. The whammy doesn't track polyphonically. They seem to cover different ground.

Whammy expression pedal is cool!

What's a rhythmic shift?!

I don't even care if it sounds like ****. total ****. If it makes a lot of noise for the price then that is totally worth it.

unless it turns out to be pathetically mediocre...

then I'll be sad....

Yep. The Whammy's tracking sucks ass. And it gets way too glitchy if your guitar isn't perfectly tuned. But that's why many people - including yours truly - like it: because it sounds dirty.

Selling BOSS FW-3. I live in Brazil, mind you, so prepare yourself for $30-ish for shipping and waiting. Local pickup available, along with beautiful beaches and cheap bitches.
