It's interesting that you like it and think it's better then the B because most reviews seem to think the fx25 is terrible and the B is just a slightly better update with a third knob and less noise.

well that is my opinion...the B version is easier to get the right settings i might add that...but with the right fiddling of the knobs it sounds a hella lot better i think. again thats just my setup...and thats my opinion...someone else might say different.

Well if you're getting the sound you want from it then that's the important thing.

Can the fx25 do subtle sounds like the 440?

In terms of an artist Jonny Greenwood's Envelope Sound rather then something too funky.

yeah i know he uses a 440 but what to you is subtle? the way that it blooms back to the bass portion of the spectrum?

honestly---its all just in dynamics id say...the way you pick can work the best for both worlds...if you pick subtle youll get that. if you chicken pick like those funk players do then youll get that out of it.
and i know what you mean by greenwoods sound...i put on my big muff fuzz and the filter and it sounded very synthy and very radioheadish like in paranoid android solo. im not sure if he uses a synth at that part or if its guitar im not too savvy on radiohead i just listen to em.

anyway---ive done the funk thing with this it definitely does that...it has its extreme side with the fuzz and distortion reactes well to it. and the whole subtle side--i never played a 440 but i would say that its very subtle just depends on the settings...the two knobs makes it a lil tricky in dialing in the right settings but its very diverse.

Thanks for the opinions, I'm thinking about buying a 440 PCB to build one myself.

i really dont know what the big hype about the 440 is...but then again i never tried it. so i cant say. all i can say is that the fx 25 is way much cheaper and i think it sounds great. so id rather spend 20 on something i love then 150 or more for something like the 440. im sure its better but i dont care. its not like i use a filter for every song.

Thanks for telling me, I probably will just go with the 440 PCB since it's cheap and can do what I'm looking for.
