What kind of other gear are you playing through? Guitars? Amps? Effects other than the ME-50?

And what kind of music do you play?

Answering those questions will help us a lot with suggestions.

squier strat and the fender frontman 15w amp. (the squier strat pack).

i play mostly classic rock, rock, but also music like dispatch, so softer rock-ish i guess?

sorry hope that will help a little

I recommend a BOSS OD-3. It's very smooth, and it'll sound good with your amp. If it's out of your price range, just save longer: it's worth it.

Something like the DS-1 won't be as smooth as you want. And the SD-1 is basically a Tubescreamer clone, and you don't want anything that claims to be a Tubescreamer since you have a solid state amp. It'll just make it sound like poo.

Did you know you can buy two external foot switches for your boss me-50 so you can switch the banks. That way you can get more versatility out of it.
