Question Ibanez DE-7 vs. Danelectro Dan-Echo

Hello everybody. I'm building up my pedal board and it's almost done, just need a delay pedal, a volume pedal and an EQ.

This is for the delay, because I have picked the others already.

The Dan-Echo vs. the DE-7.

uhhh, details. I play lots of Tool, Incubus, uhh Yes, Pearl Jam... whatever.

Good things about each, bad things?

a little more specific... how do the switches react when pushed? I like pedals with a certain feel when I step on them.

Thanks.

EDIT: I don't want anyone recommending any BOSS pedals. Thanks.

....well, you can go to my signature to hear my soundclips I made for the DE-7, BUT if you are specific about the footswitch of the pedals, back away from the de-7. the switch is crap and lots of folks have issues with the switches working one min. and breaking the next.

How so? I don't like the feel of the Dano switches that much, I prefer a nice click. That said it's not that big a deal for me...

that's what I like aswell. I like to actually have to push on the pedal to get it to go on, nlike just putting your weight on it.

they bought early ones.

Buy the later "made in china". they changed the switch, so it is far better quality now. I have slight issues with my taiwan PM7, my chinese DE7 has never had a issue.

I think you'll like the DE7 switch better.* Also it's a nice little delay, a lot of people here like it including myself.

I've never actually used a DanEcho, so can't comment on that

*(I'm assuming that the DanEcho switch is similar to my Tuna Melt, looks the same anyway)

I'd go with the Dan-Echo. The switch is soft, but there is no click. Also, there's a handy lo-fi knob, which cuts the highs out of your repeats to give you a more tape-echo sound.

Thats good to hear as there are a number of tonelocks that are great except the switch issue(IE. PM7, DS7, DE7, CF7...). Now that that's taken care of, I can blow all my money with confidence.

Thanks guys, I think I'm leaning towards the DE7 right now. Now that I hear the switch is better. I'm not gonna make my decision until I try the Danelectro too.

I have had both, i sold my dan echo to get the de-7 and i'm far happier with it. the dan echo will suck your tone, the de-7 will not. I just think with all the different settings the de-7 is a better pedal than the dan echo.

i bought zach's dan echo for a friend. i can safely say that they are both wonderful delay pedals, but as far as features and sound is concerned, the de7 is the far better pedal. though, i think you would be happy with either. the selling point of the de7 is the echo mode. it is a beautiful sounding echo simulation.

To my ears, the Dan Echo was closer to tape echo than the DE7. Without a doubt, the DE7 is more versatile, but for the tape echo sound the Dan Echo is king. I think the tone suckage the Dan Echo has lends more authenticity to its tape-like sound.

I guess you could generalize things by saying the Dan Echo is more of a niche delay.

but your delay needs are very minimal by your own admission....
