Looking for a good tremolo

What's everybody's favorites? I'm not looking for something pricey like a Red Witch or Empress, but I'm sure those are very nice.

EHX, Dano, RetroFX? I want something with no volume drop.

While it's not as expensive as the Red Wich or Empress the Catalinbread Semaphore Tremolo is not cheap (at around $200), but it is a mighty fine tremolo pedal with no volume drop. I have one and I absolutely love the thing. If that's doesn't fit into the budget, I'd go with the Electro Harmonix Stereo Pulsar. The Pulsar is fairly adjustable, and is definitely a good pedal for those who like to make odd sounds. It will do more traditional tremolo sounds as well. For eighty bucks, it's hard to beat.

I think your choice in tremolos is relative to how and how much you use it. If you just need a spot tremolo here and there (maybe once or twice a gig) the Dano is pretty hard to beat. If you use it a good bit and with the same guitar, the Pulsar is probably for you. If you need the versatility of a volume pot to compensate for output or clip (multiple guitars and what not) the Voodoo Labs is very nice. if you need a fast and a slow speed on the same pedal and can do with out the volume knob, the Prescription Electronics Throb is very nice.

The throb is pretty price, but it beats buying 2 pedals if you need it and are starved for space. I listed them in order of price from lowest to highest. They are all good pedals and perform admirably for their price range.

I bought the Behringer Tremolo for occasional use and I've been very pleased with it. Goes from subtle to chunky and I didn't notice any volume drop

Do you need tap tempo? Do you want different wave forms?

I think the Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter is a great tremolo...It's under $140.
the semaphore is awesome also...no tap tempo.

EHX Wiggler. Has a master volume and sounds INCREDIBLE. The Stereo Pulsar is also rather intriguing, no volume drop to mention and it sounds great. The rate and depth knobs are a little finnicky, but you get used to it, and the stereo panning is top notch.

I've heard good things about the Dunlop reissue, as well, although I've yet to try one myself.

Earthquaker Devices Pulse Machine. If I didn't already buy a red witch, I'd have this one instead. You can order directly from them, but since they are handbuilt, there is a wait list. Check out their website for a ton of clips. www.earthquakerdevices.com

i should be receiving a catalinbread valcoder next week, its similar to the earthquaker hummingbird (both based on the vox repeat percussions) but its got a depth control so you can use it for mellower stuff too.

Best bang for the buck is the Dano mini, in my very humble opinion. If you want to go the DIY route - or if you can have someone build it for you - you can hardly beat the Tremulus Lune. Should cost you around $40 in (good) parts and can have more options than you'll ever need.

Selling BOSS FW-3. I live in Brazil, mind you, so prepare yourself for $30-ish for shipping and waiting. Local pickup available, along with beautiful beaches and cheap bitches.

I recently broke down and ordered the earthquaker pulse machine to replace my guyatone vt-x. I love the sound of the guyatone, and its been on my board for a while now, but I've just gotten tired of trying to work around the noise and the volume boost.

Dumb question, but what exactly is the difference between a repeat percussion-style trem and a regular trem?

its just a circuit that was known for having a hard chop, square wave style trem. it'll sound a lot more "on/off/on" than the sweeter sine wave amp style tremolos.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've been wanting to try the new true bypass Dano, and I've also been leaning towards the Earthquaker Devices. I'd like a more traditional tremolo sound, so I don't know if the Pulsar fits the bill. It seems a little spacey sounding. It is a nice sounding pedal though.
