Musician's Friend

Musician's Friend has been good to me over the years, and I must say there speed and service is really above average.

However, I ordered the Boss RC-2 in late December. It was out of stock, and on their website, it said it was due on January 3. When the 3rd rolled around, it said it was due on the 10th or so. Now it says it is due on the 17th and I still do not have my pedal. Has anyone else run into this problem with them?

I came across www.musictoys.com and they have it in stock. Has anyone ever bought anything from them online? How is their speed and service?

Thanks.

I am not American, so i do not buy on-line, but I've noticed that A LOT of folks over at HC truely HATE Musictoyz, and they have not a single good thing to say about them - why, i do not know !!!

Move on with caution . . .

i spend thousands with musician's friend every year. occasionally you do run into a stock problem. best thing is to call them. there have been a few isolated incidents where i've canceled and bought an item elsewhere, but these are few and far between.

musictoyz is okay, my main gripe is that there is no way to know whether something is in stock...at least MF has a computer inventory on their site. sometimes musictoyz will say "IN STOCK!!" and it's not, and then you are screwed. again, best thing is to call them in advance.

Yeah, the same thing is happening with my Headrush. It's out of stock on a lot of websites though, in my case. So I'm just waiting.

What's the deal with the looper shortage?

I love musictoyz! I've bought quite a few pedals over the past few years from them. UPS lost one of my pedals in transit and I called up MusicToyz to see if they knew what was up and they overnighted me another pedal (before the other one was even supposed to show!) I think that's some pretty high quality service.

I got my RC-2 from musictoys because MF was out of stock. I ordered it for an overnight delivery and I got it right away.

Also, musictoys had the new EH Nano series about 2 months before Musicians Friend.

Note: musictoys ships from Maine – so don’t get ground delivery if you live on the west cost, or you will not get it till the following week.

The RC-2 definitely received a lot of chatter at GG, so I can understand the shortage.

I’ll probably call Musictoys and see if the RC-2 is actually in stock.

Tom Petty said it best – the waiting IS the hardest part…

I ordered a Duncan TB4 from MusiciansFriend in early December, and after I ordered it they realized they didn't have any in stock!

It took a couple of weeks, but I did get an e-mail from them apologizing for it being backordered during the Christmas time. They also gave me a coupon code for 10% off an order of $50+, and then I deleted the e-mail and lost the code...

Point it.. bad situation got made a little better with the code offering.

I work at Guitar Center and we can get you an RC2 no problem. I know most people on here hate dealing with them but if you want it quickly, go to them.

Our store ran out and I've pulled in about 6 from other stores and they came rapidly.

If one GC is out (take Dallas for example) and you pull from another store in that state (El Paso), it usually takes 2 to 3 days max to arrive.

We've been impressed with that pedal. The only thing I'm not happy with is that it comes with a sheet telling you all the ways it can glitch and delete your files. Hopefully next gen will fix those bugs.

I wish it told you all the ways it would glitch and make 8-bit noises at you

You want a Gmail invite? It'll fix that problem in the future (this came out kind of smug, I dont mean to be {in this case})

I wouldn't hesitate to go with musictoyz.com. The owner is a super nice guy who will go out of his way to help you out. But, like someone said, call and check so that you know that it's actually in stock. I've ordered a bunch of things from them in the past and only had a problem with the website saying that something was in stock and it wasn't. But now I live 20 minutes from the showroom so I don't have to worry about ordering things from them anymore.

I live in Canada and I must say their international shipping sucks the big one. Took me over a month to get a couple pedals that were instock shipped to me. But maybe they suck less in the states. As for the stock thing I don't know. In my experience, when retailers do that, you can be waiting a while. Oh yeah, their e-mail support for international orders sucked even more balls. Lots of ball sucking all around with international orders.

Check out Music 123 and see if they've got any in stock. I ordered a RAT2 from them with no problems at all. Very painless.
