Mutron Bi-Phase and MXR Phase 90

Anybody have one? I know the Pumpkins used it a lot, but I was wondering if anyone had any hands-on experience with this pedal. Is it worth looking into?

Also, I was thinking of getting a MXR Phase 90 if not the Mutron. I know it's an industry standard, but how does everyone feel about that one?

The Bi-phase is an optical dual 6 stage phaser which can be used in mono and in stereo; GREAT PEDAL but HUGE and very versatile

The phase 90 is a FET based 4 stage phaser; good quality phase sounds but not comparable with the bi-phase. Less versatile as it only has one control

We're talking apples and oranges here. The mutron is a beast, the phase 90 is a lightweight in comparison, but it all depends on what you're looking for. Plus you're probably going to have to get a mutron clone; originals are rare as heck and probably damn expensive to boot.

getting a mutron is as hard as getting a cheap chorus ensemble

Gotcha. I'm a huge Pumpkins fan, and I hear that the Mutron is behind the solo on "Starla." However, after researching a bit I found that Mutrons are damn expensive. How about a Phase 100 over a Phase 90?

I prefer the 90 over the 100

The main advantage of the biphase is that it has a huge headroom due to the fact it works on 30V instead of 9V AND the 30V is divided to + and - 15V (instead of 9V and 0V).
