Need good Octave pedal

A couple of days ago I asked about Neil Youngs sound and learned that he some times uses a octave pedal. So i figured i'll try one out. But the only one the store had in stock atm was a boss-oc2 wich i didn't like. To crystal clear and digital sounding.

So i would like to hear your oppinion on a good octave pedal

Only requirement is a octave down and a organic, full and warm sound. If it got more features its just a plus.

So far is cash not and issue so just roll all the expensive pedals out.

Charlie

Pearl Octaver; octave up, one and two octaves down and a direct knob. Great octaver.

Mu-Tron Octave-divider. Great tracking, touch of upper octave can be dialed in by the ringer knob and a stabalise knob to add some small delay and by this tracking is better. Also the switch to turn off the direct signal is great!

If you didn't like the Boss OC-2 I wouldn't go with the POG or HOG because they are digital and very clean. They do sound great with a good fuzz behind them. I use my hog with a heavy fuzz to make my own octave/fuzz-type tones.

For a normal octave pedal I use a Prescription Electronics Clean Octave Blend. It's pretty much so a misnomer bc it's almost impossible to get a "clean" sound out of it. It's a total ocatve fuzz and has an awesome tone. when the blend is cranked you get a lot of ring mod type sounds. However, this is an octave UP effect.

If you want an octave down effect, I'd say you should get the Foxrox Octron. Just check out the soundclips on the Foxrox site. Plus you can go an octave up too.

Have you ever thought about cloning it?

I am busy redesigning the schematic. The only one I have is terrible to read.........

When it is done, I will consider the build and the cloning.

They are rather good, if you can find one at a good price, I'd say its a good buy.

If not, then I would have gone for a Boss OC2, my brother and my guitar tutor use them and I think that they sound really nice.

The Electro-Harmonix Octave Multiplexer might be what you're looking for... Decent tracking but not terribly clean (very Neil Young-esque). While the Pog is cool, you really need a monophonic octave to get that real nasty sound when you hit multiple strings.
