New Delay help?

I'm looking into getting a digital delay to, well, add delay to my rig. I'd really like a DL-4, but either new or used it's hovering a bit out of my price range. Tap tempo and a really clean digital delay are essential, and a wide range of delay times and repeats, as well as looping and reverse delay are all big plusses. I don't really need weird modulations or tape/sweep/whatever echo sims.(Though if they're there I would definately play with 'em) I'm currently lookign at a Boss DD-6 or a Line 6 Echo Park, but I'm open to suggestions, or if anyone has a DL-4 they want to let go cheap... ;P.

The digitech digidelay has everything you need and the price is right.

a digidelay is probably best for you,

but maybe find a dd-5 on ebay, they usually go for dirt cheap these days (much less than the dd6)

if you want the DD-6, change your mind and
pay the difference for the DD-20, the delays are
cleaner and warmer for a digital effect.

Buy the DL-4

If the DL-4 is out of your price range, ignore that and get it anyway you can! But what will end up happening is you'll find the Digital Delays on the stompy no where near as good as the vintage ones such as Sweep, Ping-Pong and Tape. But trust me, this pedal changes lives!!!

(Oh God.....such a geek.....least I'm not a virgin....OH WHO AM I KIDDING?!?!)

Yup, you've just named every feature on the digidelay, plus it sounds great, better than the Boss pedals IMO

let me tell you a little story...
i used to be in your same situation and people continued to tell me things like "save and go for the DL4". then i decided to really do that and i'll never end to say thank to that decision. now i'd buy another if i had the money...

...BUT!

if you don't want to save, go for the digidelay

i can't believe the DE7 hasn't been mentioned yet, considering its popularity around here...!

i waited/saved for the DD-20 and it was SO worth it. for what you get, it's a bargain, really. i had been very picky about didital delays in the past, and was reluctant to spend less on something i would be unsatisfied with. -- the DD-20 made me very happy, right outta the box (a somewhat rare event).

if you can find a way to work, steal, save or borrow your way to a DD-20, you'll thank yourself later (i did, at least).

if i had it to do over again, and absolutely could not afford a DD-20 no matter what and could not wait, i would try a DE7 in the meantime, based on the rather glowing reports on this forum.

It doesn't have tap tempo which is essential to his query...

yeah i realized that right after i posted -- but still, for the lesser cost (compared to a digidelay), it's a cheap(er) alternative that could getcha by *while* you're saving for something better, is all.

How many different patches can you store on the DD-20? Does anyone know the exact mathmatical relation between bpm (beats per minute) and mms (milliseconds)?

patches on the DD-20 = 4

plus i believe you can set and save the 5th 'manual' mode, though i haven't bothered personally.
