New pedal order for me, dig the sig... the compressor after all the main tone generators helps me maintain consistent volume (loud, of course
). An interesting side benefit is the occasional booming lows and shrill highs have disappeared from my setup since moving the compressor after the gain pedals. My distorted tones are pleasingly dark without being muffled or muddy. This new setup pretty much assures that if I'm stuck with a rented or shared amp I'll sound like me, provided the amp is set clean enough. So I've got that going for me... which is nice. |

First post. woot.
Ive been playing on and off for years, but Im just getting into effects and ***** like that. Gear Guitar: Schecter C1+ Amp: Crate GX-30M Effects: ZOOM505 (for tuner and distortion) Crybaby GCB-95 Wah Ibanez CF7 Nothing major. I realise that there are only like 6 different configurations possible, but just looking for input. BTW, I used to put my wah at the end, but then I got the flanger and someone told me to try the flange at the end and the wah at the beginning, with distortion between them. The only issue I have with this is the wah. While I like the sound better with wah in front of distortion, the sweep range seems so much greater when its after the distortion. Anyways, just looking for tips. Im a newbie.

SomniferousEyes...I think your best option for your current rig is to test out all different variations, until you find the best sound that YOU are personally looking to achieve. As all of us geekers say each day, there is no exacct science to this stuff...music is very objective by musician...
That being said, I would use your rig like this: Schecter in> Crybaby> Zoom> CF7 Amp In the future, you may want to buy a loop pedal (Boss LS2, Loop-Master, or Loooper) to segregate the Wah in its own loop. 1)its noisy and its color to the signal even when its off.2)since there is no LED, you can leave it engaged at all times, and step on the loop button...and whala-instant Wah tone! Good luck Mate!

I'm new to the forum.
Been playing for a number of years and have a pedal order that generally works for me. I've done the hours of ****ing around seeing how each interacts with the other but I'm always up for suggestions that might spark something I hadn't thought of or tried. My current order is: Guitar>Wah>TS-808>Keeley Comp>Octave Fuzz>OCD>Fulldrive 2>TU-2>Memory Man>ChoralFlange>Holy Grail>Amp/Amps See my sig below for other pedal options. I do run my rig in stereo from the Choralflange, the reverb is only on one channel for when I run to the Gibson amps.

Minor tweak - been loving compressor after distortion, but not liking having to run my amp's preamp gain louder since then comp level is set low to reduce noise.
Solution? Added my little-used-as-of-late Nick Greer Sonic Boom booster and presto! Volume lost by turning down the comp level is restored, and the tone gains back a little tubey chime and clarity. |

I'm probably less of s geek for pedal placement, but I always placed my pedals where I found I was most confortable to step on them.
For exemple, I always place my Wah to the right, because that's where I found it's more confortable to work with. I always place distortion pedals in the middle because I prefer having "effects" each side of my distortion pedals. I always tough it was more of a personal matther..
