The DD-6 does reverse very well if you ask me. Chcek out sound sample 2 on
zZounds. The DD-5 can't do the effect fully wet.

Yeah, on the DD-5 you can't go completely "wet". So you hear the phrase forward and then backward. Pretty f'n worthless if you ask me (although I do like most of the rest of the DD-5 features). Haven't tried out the DD-6 yet but it is supposed to give you the fully wet reverse.

Is that what Hendrix uses in Castles Made of Sand for that funky Indian sound that makes a sort of sucking sound?

Its not completely useless, I use the reverse delay on the DL4 for a different kind of background ambience. Reverse delay can start to sound pretty cheesy if its overused.

My Dano Backtalk is freakin awesome. great sound. can go 100% wet.

I find that when i play through it and palm mute it sounds like The Gloaming by Radiohead.

It has very unique self oscillation too. It doesn't work like a normal delay self-osc, it is always self oscillating when you have it at 100% and aren't playing(only audible with a boost; i use an Ibanez FZ-7 with damage at 100% for a really noisy sound). It doesn't sound like a theremin like most delays, but rather like a clicky drum machine or something(think Autechre).

among the 3 you mentioned, go for the dd6.
Hendrix Castles Made of Sand is a reverse tape effect, no reverse digital delays then......

The DD-6 is best. The DL-4's is cool, but had a weird phasing sound to it that I don't find in flipped tape recordings.
