self oscillation capabilities: analog delay
is there any way that you can control the self oscillation so that you can roll the peak off before it starts to shred your cabinet apart and your ears? can you do this with say an expression pedal mod? so that you can control the rate and set an extent of where the rate mod will start and end? (treadle beginning and end)
is this possible? i was thinking about that atari mod that expancolin made...and having a long enough cable to run out of an analog delay and tape it to my guitar or my guitar strap...so that when i wanted self oscillation...push the joystick and voila!!! and when i wanted it to stop oscillating leave go! and itll stop at the center. so really i guess this is directed to colin. or anyone else who has the answer. and yes when i purchase my dod fx 90 i want this mod done. |

The warp mode on the Boss DD-6 and DD-20 does this. Most people seem to hate that mode, but I think it's very useful to get nice washes of noise. Something to consider.

warp mode?!?!?! youre out of your mind.
i have the boss dd6 and its nothing compared to the self oscillation of a nice analog delay! the warp mode is just a raise in volume...its *****! it doesnt do much at all. thats why im getting rid of my dd6. i want a real analog delay self oscillation sound. |

I am getting this crazy mental image of a guitar player with all kinds of pedals and joysticks attached to him... like some kind of rocket man or something. I think it is a cool idea to control self oscillation with a joystick though

so it can be done?!?! i sure freakin hope so cuz this is going to be badass!! i figure no one really does that so i might as well...and plus...i hated it when i was doing some fiddling with my dm3 when i had to just hear that god awful noise and shred my ears doing so. so this way i can control it before it gets to that point.
or! is there some type of buffer compenent i can put in it so that it only goes to a certain point? |

also, im making this a reality too!! me and my friend is making one hell of a frankenstein of a guitar...im going to be buying cheap pedals and putting on board controls in it...putting joysticks attached to it. itll be like a synth right there on board. ill post pics whenever we finally finish it.
anyone want to donate any parts or pedals or guitar parts or anything to the project?! |

why not get a DL4 and a expression? In the end it might cost you less then a modded analog delay.

yes this can be done. i do it a lot w. my boss dm-2. i put a dyna-comp at the tail end of my rig. it limits the spiking of volume while the delay freaks out. or keep the wet volume on the delay a little lower than normal, that way, when it peaks it won't be abnoxious.

just adjust all the settings so it peaks out and stops increase in loudness. try putting the feedback at 80% and tweak the level. should work. i have an ibanez AD-9 and it's works great like that. just mess with it.

i highly highly doubt that getting an analog delay modded for an expression pedal out will cost 200+the cost of the expression pedal. what does the dl4 go for 250 new? i took off 50 bucks for a dod fx 90...so thats say what? 220-240? no way it will cost that much. i could probably get the mod done for free or up to about 50 dollars? |

Is it even possible to control an analog delay with an expression pedal?
I've always thought tap tempo and expression were out of the question with a BBD. |
