Tap Tempo DIY

i found THIS THING a couple of months ago and that it looked way too easy and useful. And it is.

anyways, i made it. I used an altoids can and a doorbell for the momentary switch. It's way more rugged than the little radioshack switch and very cheap.
looks like:

i don't remember exactly how much it cost, but all i bought was a <$4 doorbell and a pair of cheap input jacks.

thought i'd share.

Useful and incredibly cool. Nice work.

Now... if I only had confidence in my soldering skills...

you can make a footswitch. It is the simplest project. Its just soldering a wire from the switch to the jack.

The signal doesn't go through it. One of the first times I soldered it was footswitch. Go for it!!

DIY at its finest! Looks mint! (pun intended, is it made from a mint tin?)

No. The DD-6 doesn't have a tap tempo input. It has a built in tap tempo function. It will work for a DD-20 and a DD-5.

Damn, I hate the tap tempo on that thing.

actually, i didn't solder at all in this one. I just used shrink tubing around the jack.
The doorbell doesn't require soldering either, as it is made for the everyman. Just put the wires under the screws and tighten them.

I don't think this will work with the DD-6.
I use it with a DD-5, which rocks except that it doesn't have an all wet reverse mode. oh well.

Trade it for a DD-5. I'm sure you could even get a little cash on top of that if it's in good condition.

Does it have the hold and reverse functions? Those are the only reasons I still have it.

the DD-5 has the hold function (which i use ALL THE TIME) and a reverse function. HOWEVER, the reverse function will play the original and then the reversed signal. Which kinda sucks. The DD-6 has just the reverse (i think it can have both as well though?).

Yeah, if you set the signal to 100% wet it's all reverse.

you can get it modded though by AnalogMan to make it go 100% wet on the reverse.
