ts-7 or ts-9
well im trying to better my tone and ive read here that a tubescreamer can improve amp dist tone.
im using a triple xxx and a sonic stomp and a ns2 in front of it. it sounds good, but i kinda wanted to experiment a lil bit, my knowledge for tone is just limited so just asking you guys for opinion. i play hardcore / metal ala as i lay dying , kse and other hc/metal bands. so i have two questions actually: 1. will adding a ts improve my sound or the sonic stomp is enough? 2. which is a better ts for my genre the ts7 or ts9? thanks guys.

TS9. The TS7 has a reputation for being crap.

Red Snapper.
Hahah just kidding, if you can, try to get Maxon's OD-9. It has a better circuit baord and higher quality parts. I have the TS808 in my pedal board. I midified it pretty heavily tho. Closest thing that comes near mine is that Keeley mod one. Though I didnt have the cash for the Keeley. Or Menatone's excellent Red Snapper. If it comes down to a decision between the TS7 and TS9, though... get the 9. -ZN |

Go for a TS or a clone. The better choices are:
TS-9, TS-808, TS-9DX: These tree are de same with little variants. Another cheap clones but good are: -Digitech Bad Monkey. Sound very close to TS-9 and have high and low controls. -Boss SD-1. Clone with asimetrical clipping, better for humbuckers, have more gain and is more fizzy, the favorite of Zack Wild and Randy Rhoads, and many others. Ibanez TS-5. Is the same as TS-9 but in plastic case. Are more clones, cheap and expensive. Try and choice the best for you. |
