Twin Tube smell
Hi everyone,
About a month ago I bought a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube I found second hand and I couldn't help to notice that when I've got it on for more than say 10 minutes it gives off a distinct smell. Is this normal? Also, if I were bypass an amp's preamp and plug it straight into the power amp, would I need a speaker cable or would a regular cable be safe enough? Thanks!

1) Dunno. If the tube is running hot (as in temperature, not necessarily bias), you could expect it to smell. I would open the thing up to check if there's nothing burning.
2) Regular cable.

I know when we first started selling these in our shop, you could huff the box from the paint fumes.
Man, I miss that smell...

Yeah, from the finish on the pedal. They apparently didn't let the pedal air out completely before they assembled it and threw them in the box.
