Z-VEX Fuzz Factory

Im working on a project at the moment (more on that later) and a friend suggested I look at the Z-Vex Fuzz Factory as a suitable pedal for my project.

Who uses these? What are they like? what can they do? etc, etc.

...sorry to be so vague but all my friend said was "come and try one "of course I wont be able to do that for a while yet so I want to know in the meantime what they're all about.

Cheers

BASICALLY IT is the most insaine fuzz pedal on earth; I can get tones like cream style fuzz hendrix style fuzz, and for newer i know that Muse uses fuzz factorys alot and go so far as to have them installed "in" there guitars!! Go to

http://zvex.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=5
(for more info on people and settings!)

And go to
http://zvex.com/fuzz.html
( for info and demos of the pedal)

I think if you plan to get a fuzz it is the most awsome do everything normel to insane ultamate tool!
and if you are warry to shell out the bucks he makes the same thing in not so cool a paint job
http://zvex.com/vexter.html
Sorry for the long post but its info you need if you want to make an informed desision; watch the demo and check out the fuzz factory forum

Right, well now the cats out of the bag, that is what i was thinking of constructing ala Matt Bellamy of Muse - inserting the zvex into the actual guitar. Basically - with the addition of a dd6 in there also, i want to create and to an extent control some pretty far out / crazy noises.. looks like this is doable then, i've got a luthier who is going to do it for me. I'll keep ya'll posted on the project - in the meantime, does anyone have any links to Matt Bellamy's guitar setup with the internal z-vex fuzz factory??

I have one and it took me forever to figure it out, its all about the stability knob. Once you get it though the thing is most fun fuzz box out there. It is chaos in a box ... get it. sounds like a cool idea putting it in the guitar, cause you certainly can use the controls as tone generators. I have this trick i do with the stability knob and my whammy pedal that just about blows everything up... fun.

I think this might help...

http://musegear.fobbedoff.net/

mmmm pedals in the guitar! that is freaking cool.... damn you all for putting these ideas in my head. I don't think I can look at my pedal board in the same way ever again ...

I saw something with muse on tv and I was trying to figure out what was going on there. it all makes sense now. that guitar with the whammy controller in it makes my head spin with possibilties.

If it works out, let us know, I'd be exicted to hear the results.

best idea Ive heard in years

I had a FF built into my guitar. It's cool for the pitchshifting but its not practical at all. Its really hard to switch it on and off if its your only distortion. I transplanted it into a casing and i dont regret it at all. You cant control all of the settings without opening up your guitar because most people only have the stab control mounted on the guitar.

Try board.muse.mu, go to kit and tab section and read all 100+ pages of the FF and Fuzz probe thread, its a sticky.

Great choice! I got my Fuzz Factory delivered on Tuesday. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. They're just so much fun. Sure there may be cheaper, more 'practical' fuzzes around, but I'd wager that they've got nothing on the craziness of the FF.

It also comes with the powerplate so you can plug it into an adapter.

PM me if you are interested!

Yeah, Yeah, FF is everything that´s been said and more, but it´s not a pedal you would use on every song.... It´s fine but if you use it all the time tends to become boring and unbearable, especially when oscillating... I LOVE mine, it´s one of those things that become part of your guitar arsenal, but don´t abuse it if you get one...
