Johnny Cash

When i was watching Walk the Line the other day, i notced that Johnny Cash warpped a dollar around the strings. What exactly does this do? Does it mimic the effects of palm muting? Thanks

Try it and find out!

It's a bit like palm muting. Puts the emphasis on the strumming rhythm of the pick against the strings instead of the notes when you're recording. I like to weave zip ties in my acoustic guitar strings near the bridge. Funky fun for all.

On a concert video I seen on youtube or somewhere else, he said he did it to mimic the sound of a snare drum or something like that. and i am listening to the song right now and it could very well be the guitar making the snare sound.
