It's a bit like bowling. I'm a two beer bowler, two beers is enough for me to loosen up and get my rhythm, anymore and my game gets worse

In my experience a little bit of weed, just enough to get relaxed but not enough to actually feel stoned, can help my playing.

I've found that my playing sounds fantastic to me when I'm really ripped but in the cold light of day the playback usually sounds terrible.

I've also found that the more stoned I am the more repeats I dial in on the delay

Its a bit of a cliche, but when im writing/jamming with the band or trying to come up with new idea's then i'm fine with a few jingo's. Once there is a bit of pressure, i.e were about to go into the studio and need to get the tunes sorted, or we're rehearsing our live set for imminent dates then its really detrimental to my playing. So on a creative level yes, a practical one - no.

I basically can't function after smoking even a little pot. It's kind of ridiculous. Anything else I can function pretty well under the effects of. I even once drove around the city on acid. But so much as a couple of tokes on a spliff and I can't even pick up the guitar, much less play it.

It took me about 3 minutes to realise what you meant by 'Gange'... I guess because I've never seen that word written down before!

It doesn't help me much. I tend to forget things and listen to all the wrong things. Like I'll be playing along at a gig and go "damn the kick drum is too loud" or "damn I'm too loud" or "we are too fast on this song" or whatever. The other guys in my band hit the grass before we start and on every break and sound great. I'll stick to my shot and beer routine and hit the grass back at the hotel.
Seems it affects everyone a bit different.

i love it for writing and in the studio it can take the edge off hearing the same part 30000 times during mixing but for playing live is a different story. Too many Keefer Sutherlands and you dont notice your drummer speeding up or slowing down or one of your strings being mildly out of tune.
