What's your 'Blues' ratio?

How much time and effort is spent playing old fasion blues?

Whether it be SRV, old Clapton, Eric Johnson, Hendrix or real classic stuff like Robert Johnson.

I'm a good and steady 33/66 split between Blues and Metal.

I'm a 30-33-37 split between Funk-Blues-Hard Rock. I actually improvise quite a lot of my jam non-blues solos in the Minor/Blues Pentatonic scale.

To me blues is about my blues phases. Normaly I am 25% blues/classic rock, 25% bossanova/samba, 25% alt. rock and 25% reggae.

Early this year i was 100% blues.

Right now i donīt play and listen to it at all. Iīm more 50% alt. rock 50% bossanova/samba now.

John Lee Hooker.
Grab one riff over an E chord and lay down all day.

Probably about 33%. I hate it when I'm just playing and trying to not really play any particular style - then about 5 minutes into it I realize I've reverted to standard blues licks. Apparently Lou Reed used to have the same problems with The Velvet Underground because they used to fine him every time he slipped into the blues.

i dont ever play blues.

except, when you're running a telecaster into a bassman with a tubescreamer at guitar center with no one around to hear. you have to at least rock one blues riff. just for good measure.

I used to do nothing but blues. Then I realized how annoying it is to hear someone play nothing but bluesy stuff for long periods of time. Seriously, if I hear another bluesy string bend or vibrato I'm gonna shoot somebody.

still, I can't get it all out of my system so I'd say 25%

I think that I am under 10% blues. I am very influenced by jazz players like Tal Farlow and Johnny Smith, and so I guess that I am indirectly influenced by blues, but you will not hear me bending too many notes. On the rock side of my playing are Robert Fripp, John Petrucci, Adam Jones, and James Hetfield, and not one of those players is particularly bluesy. I guess I am just not bluesy.

i'm 0 blues.

i grew up on new order, joy division and the cure.
while these groups may have been influenced by blues, it doesn't really come through, and it definately doesn't come through my music though.

it's cool music, though... base of all rock...

I have nothing to do with the blues. I am in no way involved with the blues. I am blues-free.
