I have an update to my gear. I just bought a Dr. Z Route 66 off eBay. I've only played it for a few hours, but it sounded great. It sounds good at low volumes, but at 12:00 and higher it really starts to shine. Very dynamic, and very THICK tone (The descriptions at Dr. Z's website are totally right.) Nice, natural, smooth breakup. It is my first "high end" amp I've ever bought. I'm excited to use it in a band setting.

Nice gear dude. The route 66 is extremely awesome looking. Did you post a thread in the past talking about how you built your iso box? I'd be interested in knowing how to myself. I also play primarily in Christian/worship settings and, as you've probably experienced, some churches (and their congregations) just don't do very well with loud tube amps! Haha...

I just posted an official thread here.

Yes, the church worship world has yet to fully appriciate a cranked tube amp. We are blessed at my church as the two guys in charge of the sound department (soundboards, etc) are also guitarists. They like to use PODs, however, they DO understand why I like to crank my amps to high volumes.

Now, with the isolation box, I can have cranked tube amp tones at church congregation volume. It's a wonderful thing, I have been enjoying every minute of it.

Would anyone be interested if my dad and I decided to sell isolation boxes similar to one I've made for myself? We were throwing around the idea of doing this. We would probably make a one-size-fits-all sized box (fit a 2x12 at maximum). What are your thoughts?

Cool Iso box, I've been using a foam and ply baffle to reduce blast (see my rig- not quite as bautifully made as your Box ) and enable another few notches on the twin's volume.

Don't you get a problem with overheating from the tubes, in such a confined space? My BJr runs V hot!

i think you only want to put a cabinet in the iso box. if youre running a combo you could just disengage the main speaker and run your amp out to the cab. i wouldnt think a tube amp would fair well in a sweat box. although i may be wrong.

I share your pain. I had to go with the AC15 and I can't even turn that loud enough to get good tube saturation.

Yes, I only put the cabinet inside. The sound foam makes for good insulation, so I have no doubt that a tube amp in that thing would get way too hot.

Enough already!

I said something a bit stupid, without thinking, but decided not to edit my stupidity as a salutory lesson to others!
