clothwiring main rig (UPDATED)

Currently I run a few different setups, but here's my main one.

1999 Fender '62 Reissue Strat > (Vox Wah or a Maestro Boomerang or sometimes no wah) > Diaz Tremodillo > Fulltone mini-Deja-Vibe > Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 (with 4 x 12 cab). In the effects loop of the Marshall I run a Boss DD-3 and a Line6 DL-4.

I also run a Gigliotti GT Custom.

Updated Rig as of 4/28/2005

Guitar (see list below of commonly used ones) > Vox Wah > Boss TU-2 > Fulltone mini-Deja-Vibe> Marshall Silver Jubilee 2558. Effects loop: Korg G4 > Diaz Texas Tremodillo > Boss DD-3> Line6 DL-4.

Commonly Used Guitars:
- 1987 Stratocaster Plus (with Gold Lace pickups)
- 1999 '62 Reissue Stratocaster
- 2000 Deluxe Stratocaster (with Kinman Mk-II pickups)
- 1986 Esquire (soon to get a Joe Barden Tele Bridge pickup)
- 2004 Gigliotti GT Custom (with Lollar Special Tele pickups)

I picked up a Jubilee 2558 so I'd have a smaller amp setup for smaller gigs. I still have the Jubilee 2555 1/2 stack for larger gigs. The Korg G4 is speculation as I think it'll arrive today or tomorrow and then be incorporated into my pedalboard.

Really nice rig! How does the Marshall differ from say, a Silver Jubilee 2550?

Thanks bucky. The 2555 just has more power than the 2550. I find that the 2555 Jubilee is a very transparent sound, BUT...that it's not really a 50/100 watt head. I've done some comparisons and found that the output seems more to be about 35/80 watts. I run it on the 100 watt setting with the master volume on 5. On the clean channel (on about 5, no input boost), I find that if you play hard you get a very nice breakup at that point (like a fender but not frumpy on the low end). I love the 2555 and am considering getting a 2558 2 x 12 combo so it's more transportable. The pedal board is finally getting to where I'm happy. I've had many different things on there and now am finally to the point of being totally happy with it. I'm just waiting for the Maestro to get back from the tech then it'll go into the chain.

What do you think of the 2550 Jubilee's bucky?

I've never had a chance to play any of the Silver Jubilee line, but I hear great things about them. They go for decent prices on ebay too. I believe the 2555 is what John Frusciante uses live for his dirty sounds, and I love his tone, so it sounds like you have a great amp.

It's the best Marshall I've personally heard (I haven't heard all of 'em so there could be a better one out there yet). I have a JCM-800 2205 that doesn't even compare tone wise, too much coloration of the tone in the 2205. The thing about my setup, is that even though there's 4-5 pedals in that chain, between it all I've gone for stuff that I feel are very transparent in taking the signal from the guitar and getting it to the speakers. I've found the RI strats to be very nice and the Jubilee, as I already stated is very transparent. I believe the the whole chain EXCEPT the Vox Wah is very clean, the DL-4 slightly colors the sound, but the Vox Wah is the worse culprit and I've taken it out of the pedal board.

I don't run alot of gain, about 4-5 on the dirty channel but that's all I really like/need.

Joe Bonamassa plays 2 2555 heads along with a few Budda Superdrive heads now and his sound is phenominal. If you get a chance check out his latest for good examples of the Jubilee's tone. He breaks it down for you track by track for what he used on each.

Cool, I'll check out his latest record if I can. You could always mod your wah for true bypass if its sucking tone out of your chain. Got any pictures of your rig?

You have a gorgeous rig (not too disimilar to my own...) , i've got a Jubilee too, love it 2550 version, I agree with you keep the gain down, run it on the rhythm channel Control gain with your guitar etc. How's the Deja-Vibe? I need a Univibe sim...

I compared the Fulltone mini-deja-vibe literally next to my original Uni-Vibe and it is 99% the same tone. I A/B channeled them to a 1965 Princeton Reverb and I couldn't tell them apart after switching the channels banc anfourth a few times. had to turn off the Fulltone to figure which channel I was on. I've also heard good things about the Prescription Electronics Uni clone. I think the Fulltone sounds great and I wouldn't trade it (unless it was for another original Uni-Vibe! lol Check out the Fulltone.

Cool cheers! Will do, now I just have to hunt down a nearby dealer...

I picked mine up off a dealer on Ebay because I think the closest dealer to me that'd have one would be in NYC (4 hours from me). It was brand new still packaged. And I found it a little cheaper than the Prescription Electronics which I found similar reviews of both, saying they are both great.

What I also like about the mini-deja vibe is that I can control the speed wheel with my foot. I have it on the bottom left of my pedalboard and nothing else is in the way and the wheel is big enough to change the speed with the edge of your foot on the side of the wheel.

Best part about the Uni-Vibe...it was basically free. All I did was sell some pedals for a guy and he gave me the Uni as a token of his appreciation. I about crapped my pants.
