Talking LOGgers rigs...

Hey there folks! Just thought I'd take the time to introduce myself. I've been returning to this informative site for many years now, and have decided to sign up, and dig through your forum posts to soak up the tone-sculpting wisdom which lies within. : ) Soooo, please allow me to start by posting mine, and my cowriters rigs: (hopefully, this isn't too far out of format.)

Guitars we share:
1977 Gibson Les Paul Custom w/Maple fretboard. (Stock)
1996 Gibson Les Paul 'The Paul II' (EMG H-neck, 60-bridge)
2006 Epiphone Les Paul Studio w/Floyd Rose Trem (Dimarzio Evolution-bridge)
2004 Ibanez SA Custom (Stock)
1997 Ibanez EX370 (stock)
2001 DeArmond s6-7 (7-string SG lookin' thing)
1985 Applause acoustic 6-string w/Dean Markley 'Woody'
199? Epiphone SG310 (stock)
197? Fender acoustic 6-string w/Dean Markley 'Woody'

All electric guitars have DM Blue Steel 10's on 'em, and the acoustics have DM Phosphorous bronzesss.

Rig 1:
Line 6 Flextone IIIxl 150w combo.(FBV Shortboard) A Boss SD-1 at input. With a BBE 462 Sonic Maximizer, a DBX266xl Compressor, and a Boss rc-2 Loopstation in the FX-loop. For larger gigs , the Left direct out of the Flextone is run to a Soundtech 500w power amp(overkill) which drives an early-80's Ampeg V-4 cabinet, and the Right direct out goes out to a Crate 12" combo which is used for the drummer to monitor my guitar. Or, if recording, we use the direct-outs instead of micing.(Even with my 'good' mics, and a lot of patients, I can't beat the direst outs of the Line 6 stuff)

Rig 2:
A Crate-heads 150w power section was 'modified'(ie... sawed off 2" of the non-working end of it) to fit within the upper space of a Fender Ultimate Chorrus' combo, which had its guts removed. A Line 6 FloorPOD is used as the pre-section, run into the Crates power-section which drives the two 12" Fender speakers in the combo, AND(for larger gigs) a set of early-seventies 15"s in a Fender cabinet.

We've been doing the music-thing together since '95, and assembled these rigs for our latest endeavor,(LOG) a hard-rock act. There's a live jam-song posted on our homepage if anyone wants a sound-sample of us... demo is still in the works.

Oh yeah, and if someone wants to suggest a good overdrive pedal that we each could use in front of these digital-modeled pres, that'd be swell.(Been considering the Blackstar OD model, but haven't tried it yet.)

Holy crap! That is one sweet rig man. I love the guitars and what you've done with the amps too. Plenty loud for sure!!! How do you use the loop station in a live band situation? I've played with the looper in my DD-20 and it's fun but I can't see an application where it would be useful in a live band situation - especially when, on the DD-20, you can save loops.

Hey, thanks RUSHFANnLV! The Loopstation is newly aquired, as a way to get the rhythms I play 'done the way I like' without taxing the other guy. I did notice that you don't want to stack too many phrases into it... it muddies things up pretty quickly, also that it's best to be selective with what you want to have it do for you, but as long as you don't abuse it, it will do 'live' just fine.

Loud? heh Yeah, these puppies go to 11... or so. ; )

Alas, we really don't use the loud-half of 'em all that often... sure do look cool, though! haha Especially Rig 2. I'll figure out how to post some pics one of these days.

Thanks again, for the kind words!

The looper is best used for intros, or verses that go- rhythm/verse-->solo--
>rhythm/verse--> solo. That way, I can loop the firstly-played piece, solo over it or support it while the the lyrics are getting sung. The best part about it, is that it sounds like 'me'. lol Man, that sounds so pompous, but really I mean that it's 'consistant'... the other guitarist/rig sounds similar in some aspects, but also very different in others.
