MacGyver's latest rig.
Hey everyone. Been a while since I posted a rig up here.
Resurrected my Line 6 DL-4 this weekend (it was making this really weird digital noise and dropping the output volume for some reason, sent it off to an engineer a couple years ago when it started and he couldn't fix it. Plugged it in yesterday and after a few wiring configurations threw a dummy plug into the Right output and it works fine, don't have a stereo rig so it works great for now). Obviously the DL-4 takes up a lot of pedalboard real estate so had a rejig and have found my best setup so far I reckon. Apologies in advance for the overly detailed account that follows... I just love writing up this stuff... Guitars: 2010 Fender Jazzmaster Classic Player Special - MIM, stock (main guitar) 1997 Squier Strat - MIC, Hand wound Bulldog Hot Rod Texas Flood pickups with reverse wound middle pickups, Kluson vintage tuners. 1989 Squier Tele - MIK, Bill Lawrence Noiseless Rail pickup in the bridge, and vintage Tele in the neck. 1965 Danelectro Hand Vibrato - Dual pickup model, decommissioned tremelo, otherwise all stock. 1970's MIJ Strat - Not sure on what make, possible Kay, large late 60's/70's style Fender Headstock, no name. Presumably stock. Pickups sounds great, 5-way switch wired up in reverse for some reason. 1960's Jedson Tele copy, single neck pickup - Bridge swapped out for a Tune-O-Matic, tuners switched. Needs a proper setup. All mods done prior to me getting hold of it. Pedalboard: Guitar > BYOC Armstrong Twin (switch between Orange Squeeze compressor and Green Ringer ring modulator/octaver, there is a third setting which is a combination of both but I never really switch to that.) > Loop-Master 5-Loop True Bypass switcher with overall bypass and Tuner out: Tuner Out > Boss TU-2 Loop 1 > Electro Harmonix POG Loop 2 > Behringer Memory Man Copy > EHX Nano Small Stone Loop 3 > Zoom PD-01 Power Drive (working as a clean boost) Loop 4 > Joyo Ultimate Drive (the notorious OCD clone that Freekish Blues apparently modded out to create the Alpha Drive) Loop 5 > Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremelo Loop-Master output > Loop-Master Stutter Bomb > Loop-Master 4-Loop T/B switcher with B/P: Loop 1 > Boss CE-5 (dummy jack vibrato "mod") > Boss MIJ CE-2 Loop 2 > Line 6 DL-4 (Volume swell, Tape echo, Stutter echo and looper) Loop 3 > Boss DD-3 > Artec SE-ADL Analog Delay Loop 4 > EHX Holy Grail > Amp Ebow Amps: Currently using a red knob Fender Eighty Five (not the 85 or Deluxe 85), so far been unable to find any info with regards to getting a manufacture date for this amp, so if anyone can help me out that'd be much appreciated. Also got a stock Peavey Classic 30 in need of a power amp replacement as I blew the original and the (second hand) replacement quickly followed suit, also got a Marshall Valvestate S-80 which hasn't been fired up for years and I assume needs a good service. Got a few leftovers too that don't work so well with the Eighty Five (with it being solid state), a few older ones (notably: Marshall Guv'nor MkI, Marshall Drivemaster, Ibanez MIJ Sonic Distortion) and a couple more interesting ones (Devi Ever Truly Beautiful Disaster, BYOC Scrambled Octave). Looking to replace the Danelectro Tremelo with the BYOC kit, but at the moment it all seems to be working rather well for what I need. Would love to one day work in a small valve amp running parallel, rather than upgrading to a larger amp, and been looking at the Fender Excelsior as a possible partner but lacking in cash at the moment. Anyway, enough wittering for now. If you've got this far, then cheers for reading. |
