Does anybody have any recommendations for my gear? I'm not sure what else I could get, but suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
-Mike

I don't know what else you could get, but that Recto is gorgeous.

EDIT: Oooh, you could get a clean boost or a noise gate. Or take SD's suggestion for more phase. I know I am. (Everybody needs more phase. )

The Valve FX has lots of phase....and delay. So does the Quadraverb. Plus, I'm running the Behringer Composer, which has a nose gate in it. I pretty much have all that covered.
One thing that Triton mentioned...a clean boost....I kinda dig that, since the cleans on the Recto seem to break up very quickly unless I run some kind of modulation effect, like a chorus or phase shifter.

Other than a clean boost, I really can't think of anything else that I could add to my rig to enhance it. I've been thinking, but keep coming up short on thoughts.

Thanks man, I did a lot of work to make it stand out in the crowd of Rectos. You wouldn't believe the hassle I went through to re-do it. I'm glad it turned out as good as it did.

I thought it was a custom shop job until I saw the picture labels.

I'd still like to set up some kind of jam or something sometime. Now isn't a good time because of the weather obviously.

I'm not sure if it's your style or not but you can buy a Line6 filter pro is a really cool rack with new interesting sounds from your setup, it might get you to a new place

Nice gear -- the rec. is a beauty. I fell out of love with the whole diamond plate thing, and would totally get a custom if i was to buy one.

I've never even checked one out. There's nowhere around here that I can find one to try it. Everybody is into pedals, and nobody seems to carry rack gear around here anymore. It's like it went out with the 80's or something

What exactly does it do? I have one rack space yet to fill

It takes all of our favorite filter and synth sound and puts them into one sexy purple monster. Many great sounds come from it, I would like to have one myself. One can doubt how musical it is though.

Mikey - if you want to make the trek down to Centerville Music, they have a Line6 FM-4 (or they did last time I was there). I would think the rack and this thing would be at least somewhat similar.

I wasn't really impressed with it, but then again I don't have any experience with synths and filters.

S**t man, I've never even been there. I'd get lost going there. I'm not very educated on Line 6 stuff. If it's a pedal, I wouldn't be interested anyway, since I like to keep my stepping to a minimum, and the more pedals I have, the more money I have to spend to make it simple again.

But get ahold of me sometime this week. I'd like to jam around sometime.

Yeah, I did it myself. It ran me a total of around 115 bux to redo the whole halfstack. That's including the grill cloth ($85 off the 'bay), staples ($5), foam for the head ($5), glue for the foam ($5), and double-sided tape to remount the grill on the head ($15). I had the wood for the template laying around. Plus I have enough cloth to redo it again, in case it gets a hole torn in it like my last cab did.

The major kicker was the time it took. It took every bit of two hours just to do the cab. That's with 2 people working on it too. There are an assload of staples holding the original grillcloth on. Seriously, they are so close together that you couldn't fit another staple between them. It's like that all the way around the grill too. I had to have a buddy do the stapling while I pulled the cloth as tight as I could around the grill frame.

For the head, I had to cut a peice of 1/8" paneling to the exact size and shape of the diamond plate, then trim it down another 1/8" all the way around. I put glue down, then layed a layer of foam over the paneling, and wrapped it in the cloth, stapling behind the panel, and used the double-sided tape to hold it back on the head (that's also how it's put on from the factory.)

The only other thing I would do differently-- I would use a white colored piping around the cab, instead of the stock grey color.
