glad to see someone else using a 620 for aggressive music.
I love mine.
definitely taking some getting used to and the R bridge is a pain in the ass at times, but it sounds great.

Looking forward to hearing it at full volume this weekend at an audition (fingers crossed)

now if i can just get my dl4 fixed, or get the money back and buy an m9, i think i'll be all set for a while.

updates

DL4 is out to be drasp modded (new switches, white powder coat, buffer mod and he's working on a custom mod for me to have a switch to trigger the looper on and off so i don't have to stop and turn the knob with my hands (similar to the way the m9 has the hold for looper on the tap tempo switch)

as well picked up a holy grail reverb (older one)

still trying to get used to the 620, i feel like i've gotten so used to fenders that anything bigger or smaller makes it almost impossible to play some of the riffs i have....considering getting a 650C, if i can find one and then possibly (again possibly) unloading the 620 to someone with smaller hands than I.

oh decisions decisions

as well may be getting a vintage sound city head (i think a 50 or a 120 not entirely sure) soon for cheap and selling the laney to pay for it.

as well i've been updating my pedal layout
as of this morning i am running:
x2 digital wireless
ernie ball volume pedal jr.
xotic effects ac booster
byoc large beaver (triangle muff)
cusack tap a whirl (listed in the for sale section)
drasp modded dl4 delay

The First Act is gone? That guitar looked really cool!
Did you build your Ikea pedalboard like the one in this thread?

yeah, i sold it. i had it in to get a fret level and 2 months later the frets already had flat spots on them so i sold it.

yeah my ikea board is similar but with a few key differences.
mine is the 30 inch long board. i've got the extender board screwed to the back, a set of nice cabinet handles on the top and an ikea ledberg light under the board which backlights the pedals. I've also mounted my pedal power and my x2 underneath the board to conserve space.

I'm thinking about getting a set of white george l's and fully upgrade the rig

(also thinking about finally getting rid of almost all of my monster cables and getting some nicer ones)

i'm such a gear snob sometimes. haha

Looks like a great rig man, shame about that First Act. George L's seem to be the way to go but have you looked at Bill Lawrence cables? They seem to get some really positive feedback too and would be perfect for your pedalboard like the George L's (solderless etc.).

well the funny thing is i have half a set of george l's that i built at a guitar shop up in nh like 5 years ago, but now that my pedal layout is so much different, i'm trying to make all these cables reach and work when honestly they're a tad short for the task at hand.

as well i'm trying to make an "asthetically pleasing" pedalboard, keeping with my white and black motif and sure enough george l sells white cables.

i did a bit of research on the tgp, but really i'm not sure i want a bunch of cork sniffing 50 year olds giving me advice about a couple strands of copper and a brass plug. The idea that there are $2000 instrument cables makes me want to puke and laugh my ass off.

so i may just stick with the monster cables i have (though i'm going to probably break them deliberately soon so i can have a fresh set, one of the many perks of monsters) oh well
haha

Resurrecting an old thread, I made an account just to post on this. I've been trying to get a good post-hardcore set-up but I'm also broke, so I came across this on google search. I'm from the boston area, and am in a band with pretty much the same influences that you posted, we're like emotional hardcore/post-hardcore. What's the name of your current project?

update

well i'll make this two fold seeing as I almost forgot this thread existed
current rig
ash mim tele - hotrail in the bridge, scn in the neck, sperzels, 2 volume knob mod
white custom built tele - american special body, routed for a tummy cut, super 55 in the bridge, scn in the neck, lefty strat neck, sperzels, 2 volume knob mod
soon to be getting a modern player tele plus in charcoal

pedals -
ernie ball vpjr (just had to replace the string)
x2 wireless
boss tu-2 tuner
drasp modded dl4
akai headrush e1 (strictly for looping)
ibanez lf-7 lo fi filter pedal
rivera headmaster midi controller

amps
rivera kr-100
1978 marshall jmp 2203
custom built 6x12

shortfall -
as for budget gear to pull off post hardcore
a jcm 900 dual channel head or combo would do wonders and you can usually pick them up for around $6-700 on the high range. guitar wise, tele's are my favorites. You can accomplish a lot with a good cheap tele and some patience to mod it out. for effects you can pick up a good used volume pedal for like $50 (these are essential) and look around for an old akai headrush (i picked mine up for $64, much cheaper than my dl4 haha)
