Hey,
I've heard all sorts of comments either praising the RI Tele Deluxe or bashing it, what's your take?

I really like it... It felt very well back then when I tested my Orange AD-30TCC in the store, then I realised that I wouldn't get the sounds I was trying to achieve out of my regular Tele - so I sold the old one and got this one instead.

I like the low-output Wide Range hums everybody seems to hate - they have something sweet that works really well with my british sounding amp and in that combination they wouldn't sound muddy (as many people quote) - they would probably in a rather muddy amp (like a cranked Deluxe Reverb for example)...

Hope that helped, Dominik

Update:

A black Duesenberg Starplayer TV is on the way - it's already there to be checked by a luthier, then in a couple of days I'm gonna check it myself and: BUY IT...

it looks like your filter pro is rack mounted above your amp, what kind of mount is it?

I must admit - I really don't remember - I think the seller said it's italian made... I bought it used back then from a staff member at the shop where my Starplayer comes from - he stripped down his rig and didn't use it anymore...

Cheers, Dominik

How's that Brian May special workin' out for you? A friend has one and it's insanely shrill but works as a delicious preamp; is that the use you get out of it too?

Then swab the inside of the pedal send it to the lab for testing in a week or two they'll be able to tell you.

If you find a tab of acid in there take it.
The further back you trip the older it is. If its a bad trip then you know its from the 80's.

Most of the time I play it at home... just for practising etc. - but I'd use a Fender Koil Kord with it - then it wouldn't be that shrill

I tried to use it as preamp before my Orange - way too much output (hell, I thought everything is gone ) - and once into my Korg cassette recorder - there it was quite nice... but not overwhelming...

how does your friend use it???

Very oddly. He runs that as a preamp, along with an tube microphone preamp, through a mixer, which is fed to a Marshall MG ministack, with the dry signal being fed to an Orange SS and some Yorkville SS bass amp. The resulting sound is fairly satisfying and almost too thick for my liking with the Brain May off; it needs to be on to get better treble response.

That's the set up his students use (he teaches) while he uses a Mesa Mark IV. The whole set up is pretty fun.

Obviously a lot of work went into putting your rig together and tweaking it all...I'm a metal playing whore with an entirely different type of rig, but I can appreciate a nicely organized and well made rig and for what you play I will bet that your rig is probably top notch...kudos.

Thanks aLOT... It took me years over years, but I'm really happy with that rig now...
