It's funny that I used to despise EH pedals, and now I have three EH Nano pedals on my board: Holy Grail, Small Stone, and Neo Mistress.

I haven't used my Blues Jr in almost ten years, but yesterday I dug it out, swapped in some JJ's and a Weber speaker I had lying around. Now I wonder why I hadn't done it before. But it's definitely getting used now, I might even order an oversized Mojotone replacement cab for it.

Never heard of that Superlead pedal. What's it about?

Selling BOSS FW-3. I live in Brazil, mind you, so prepare yourself for $30-ish for shipping and waiting. Local pickup available, along with beautiful beaches and cheap bitches.

It's a GC-exclusive lovepedal that is supposed to do the "plexi-in-a-box" thing. It has a mids control that goes between scoop or bump, plus volume, drive, and tone knobs. I've found it to be a little bland, but with the tone and drive knobs all the way up it does a decent high-gain marshall impression. It doesn't stack well with my OCD or clean booster, though. I've read somewhere that it is almost identical to the MXR '78 Distortion circuit.

I want something that stacks well with my OCD. I've heard that two OCD's can sound quite nice, so I may go that route with each one dialed in differently, so I can do one or the other or both......kind of like Trey does with tubescreamers.

I'm really not loving the dd-20 that much anymore, either. I only use the modulated setting, and the buffer stinks. I may swap it out for a second carbon copy and have them set up slightly different as well. So most likely, I'll be switching to a PT Mini with this:

OCD - OCD - Carbon Copy - Carbon Copy

Get a Dirty Little Secret for stacking dirt.

If you can take a picture of the Superlead's circuit I or someone else here could try and figure the circuit's topology. You'd get even more help from the guys at freestompboxes.org or diystompboxes.com.

Now using two Blues Jr's. One is my old US model, the other is a new BJ III.

The III actually sounds much better stock than the older one with the JJ's and Weber. Weird.

Anyway. Pedalboard looks lonely with just OCD, Carbon Copy, and single-button footswitch for the fat control on the BJ's. I'm waiting on the soldering iron to heat up so I can add a DPDT switch to it and switch both amps with one click. VFE Blueprint should be here monday.

Took a moment before rehearsal to snap the pedalboard today. Probably going to ditch the Carbon Copy and replace it with another Blueprint or a Cmatmods Deeelay (can't decide, tips?).

Also looking to ditch the Superlead and replace with DLS or Signa Drive (again, can't decide, advise please?)

Still doing Strat -> pedals -> 2 Blues Jrs via Y cable (ground loop noise has not been an issue thus far)

I LOVE my DLS... Perfect for turning those Fenders into Plexis. I have just a MKI DLS and I don't know how they could have improved it (apparently they did, though).

On the delays, I don't have experience with those two. And I have two pretty niche delays I'm using at the moment. Both apparently tape delay emulators. So if you like tape delay sounds I can suggest the El Capistan or a Pigtronix Echolution if you want to spend that kind of money. I don't know how I came to spend that much on delays, but I did.

I'm trying to be objective and selective about pedals from here on out, instead of the old method of just buying everything that looks pretty. In a perfect world I would just have three pedals: a dark-ambient delay and a bright-zingy delay (and the footswitch for the fat boost on the amp).

But even with an amp as small as the BJ, I rarely get to dime it, so I have to rely on some kind of OD to get the sound "there." However, the OCD doesn't have much sustain, so I end up boosting it with something else, and the next thing you know.......it's just gone too damn far. I don't use a lot of gain by any means, so it's kind of hit or miss on the tone depending on where I'm set up. Perhaps a compressor will do away with dirt pedals....I don't know.

I'm becoming more and more of an advocate for compression... I have an OD that is based on a Klon that adds a fair amount of compression to my sound. It's always on and makes all my other dirt sounds sing forever. If you can't crank an amp, half the magic of having a tube amp is the compression, IMO. Throw a good compressor in there. I don't think you should have much of an issue with the OCD if that problem is fixed.
