Ol' time poster, first time rigger!

OK, this is my first real try on making my own rig-thread, so I'll be as specific as possible It's pretty damn hard being a lefty and not having alot of money, so my basses aren't the best.

Yamaha RBX 260L

Natural finish
4-stringer
Alder body
Maple neck, bolt on
Rosewood fretboard
Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder-pickup
1 volume-pot
34" scale

My first bass. The original pickup sucked ass, so I replaced the pickup with the QP and had the repairsman unplug the tone-knob. Has ben covered in stickers, I'm thinking about covering her up again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fender bastard-J

3-tone sunburst finish
4-stringer
Alder? body
Maple neck, bolt on
Rosewood-fretboard
Delano JMVC4 FE/M2-pickups (www.delano.de for info).
vol/vol/tone-pots
34"-scale

This bass is pretty special, another lefty wich I got to know from a swedish bass-player forum gave me the body with bridge and everything because he "understood my situation being lefthanded, 19 years old and unemployed"... And since the body just layed around in his closet, he gave it to me!

The fun thing was, after he gave me the body, alot of other forum-members showed up and wanted to give me stuff as well, so I got the pickups, strings and accessories for free! The only thing I bought myself was a neck, so I bought an Warmoth-neck with these specs:

Maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
P-bass size at the nut
stainless steel-frets (I'm allergic to nickel)
mother of pearl-dots (makes sooooo much difference!)
Vintage tint-laquer (check out WARMOTH'S website for an idea)

I also bought some schaller-tuners, a nut and some other stuff...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warwick bastard streamer

Unknown body (Possibly maple?)
Fourstringer
EMG pickups

I bought this one on ebay, it was pretty cheap ($100), and I had a guy import it for me, and I also bought some Delano-pickups from him I'm using in my jazzer. The body itself is in pretty... Not bad, but it needs some love. My plan is to have a custom-made neck and have everything fixed...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basses

Dean Edge 5 lefthanded

Seethrough black
5-stringer
Basswood body
Maple neck, bolt on
Rosewood fretboard
Dean Design Pickups
2-band EQ, volume and blend-pots
35"-scale

I have an EMG 40DC-pickup I'll install someday, but I need to either buy another or sell the one I have and buy two passive soapbar-pickups... I'm thinking about Delano, but Duncans are good too.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amp
Mesa Boogie Bass 400+, rackmounted
Marshall 2x15-cab

This is my first real bass-amp and it KICKS ASS! It sounds soooo good and I'm so happy with it! The only problem is that the ****ing cab is so deep, I'm thinking about getting another cab with 10's in it so I can bring it to gigs

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other stuff

Ernie Ball-strings

Flatwounds for the jazzer (GHS... Silver steele?)

8-space rack (swedish brand, shockmounted)

Non-working Whirlwind DI-box (gotta fix this, It will rock when I'm done)

Dunlop triangle 1mm-picks (when I can find them, or else any "bigger" pick around 1mm thick)

Musik Produktive hardcase

Warwick Rockbag gigbag

I think that's it! I'll post some pics real soon!

I dig your stuff, I like the ways in which you have customised your stuff up when on a buget, kinda reminds me how I woulda done it in your situation.

I would love to get my hands on a 400+! how much did it set you back?

Thanks man! It's hard as hell to find decent lefty instruments here in Sweden, so customisation is the way to go over here...

Well, the Bass 400+ with the 2x15-cab, rackcase, three speaker cables and the DI-box costed me 18 000Kr... That's between $2500 and $2700, depending on the curency... It may sound alot, but a new Bass 400+ head today in Sweden would cost me $3300, the cab would cost me at least $800 and the rackcase at least a grand... And I didn't need to pay everything at once, the last payment will be payed before the end uf July

If you ever get the chance to buy one, DO IT! They're great! I crank the hell out of mine for amp-distortion, with the volume on 10 and master at 2... If I want a clean sound, I put everything around 5-7... I can't wait to hear the amp with another cab with 10's in it

Well, I finaly got the warwick-body! It's just a shade darker then I expected, but it's great looking anyway

After checking, re-checking and tripple-checking, I now know why they sold it so cheap... It seems like the paint (or the laquer really) has been put on pretty sloppy... You'll have to look real close to see it, but it's pretty evident when you know it's there. I'm not concernd at all, I like the way it looks and the grain showing through the laquer is damn nice

But, since they painted it wrong, some stuff hasn't been done...

No GOOD shielding
No hole for the output-jack
no holes for strapholders
no hole between the pickups (I assume that this is relevant?)

It also has a small crack on the back of the body, like it wasn't glued together properly...

As I said, I'm not worried because I'm not gonna do a damn thing to this bass I have the pickups, I'll buy the bridge, tuners, nut, straplocks and pots and then I'll leave everything else up to professionals. I'm even having a neck custom-made dirt cheap!

I'll try to get pictures up as soon as possible...

whoa, awesome story about the fender J. Lefty stuff is always hard to get, and you can't just swap guitars or basses around people all the time. Awesome job making everything work for you

OK, some news then!

The jazzer is getting fixed on monday! I'm leaving the installation of the tuners and electronics to pro's, so I won't mess up. Also, I've decided to go with the Delano-pickups in the jazzer. Mostly because a jazzer should be passive, but also because I don't really have the time to buy the EMG electronics.

I also sold my old behringer-combo.

And, here's the best news:

Our guitarist's sisters boyfriend's dad works at the company who imports Ernie ball/Music man, Marshall, PRS, EHX, Samson, Audio Technica, Sonor, Zildjian and LOADS of other great companies, and we're getting a big ****ing discount on EVERYTHING we buy directly from him! So the whole band has alot of shopping to do

Well... I don't have any real pictures of my rig, the previous owner had this pic of the mesa:
http://upload4.postimage.org/988080/photo_hosting.html

I don't have the tuner or compressor, and I got a different cab, one that was in better shape

Since the jazzer ain't put together I don't have a "finished" picture of it, but I do have this: http://upload7.postimage.org/262252/photo_hosting.html

I'll get some better pics up soon

It probably is, the tuner and DBX-thing wasn't included when I bought it... Not that I care really, I'm thinking about buying a guitar preamp and using it for distortion..

More pics of the basses when the jazzer is done!
