How exactly did you make the pickup? Did you like wind it up and make the magnets yourself? Also thats a pretty nice rig, really classic(no pun intended).

the pickup was definitely a learning process for me and my friend. We got interested in it reading random internet stuff and realized that a pickup is just a sort of electromagnet. I made the bobbin out of wood and the ends out of CD case. I drilled the 6 holes with the drill press and bought some screws from the hardware store. I bought the magnet and 42 gauge copper wire from Stewart Mcdonald. For the winding I duck taped a piece of wood to a record player, then drilled the bobbin into the wood. For tension I ran the wire through books. When it was done I snipped the wire. Then I melted a cheap candle in a pot and lowered the pickup into it to pot it. My problems started when I got ****y. I decided to wire the humbucker with a coil tap with 2 switches so I could have a humbucker, one single coil, or 2 hum cancelling single coils. The switch setup was mickey mouse and only lasted about a week. Now it only works as a low output single coil I want to make a new one soon, maybe I will post a tutorial when I am done. I have some pics of the current one too, when I get a chance I will post them. |

We seem to play the same kind of music. I would suggest a analog delay pedal. They are teh cool.
And, despite what some people will say negatively about the whammy - I say go for it. It's loads of fun. |

i also vote for analog delay. my suggestion would be something like an Ibanez/Maxon AD9. as far as the whammy goes, be sure that you'd actually get the use out of it that would justify the expenditure. they're cool and creative toys, but a lot of people have a hard time finding a lot of use for them.

Cool rig.
It's nice to see someone put alot of effort into making a few relatively cheap items work for them. In the name of cost and simplicity I'd suggest looking at a Boss DD-3 delay. Or, if you want to go analog check out a Maxon AD9.

I know its digital, but the DD-3 gives me more than twice the delay time for 30 dollars less. As for the whammy (or ps-5) I have tried both and really like them, but getting them (or the delay) is a little ways off because school is starting and I wont have any money for awhile. |

if you can't decide between analog and digital delay you should consider the Ibanez DE7
