What else do I need?
Just out of curiosity, how could I make my rig any more complete?
Guitars Maton Mastersound MS2000 (Possible purchase in the next few weeks) Maton Mastersound MS500 Epiphone Les Paul Std Amp Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier - Road King Rectifier Oversize 4x12 Cab Pedals Line 6 POD XT Live Exp Pedal for addition to XT Jim Dunlop Crybaby Boss TU-2 Amp Pedals (Pre XT Live) Guitar Is there any suggestions for what Expression pedal I should get for the XT? I was also thinking about getting another volume pedal and putting it in the series FX loop. Would it be a good idea to get a True bypass line selector? I was thinking of using that to completely bypass all the pedals, just so when required, it will be a pure line going straight into the amp which to me, sounds a lot better than having any effects in the way. I was thinking the Morley AB-Y. Also, suggestions for a wireless system? My lead from my guitar to my pedals annoys me more and more every day. That would pretty much make my rig done forever. |

Other than that, I think you've got a great rig - in particular that guitar in the pic looks awesome - very retro You can probably control the gain of your amp pretty well with your guitar so I don't think you need an overdrive. Find models on your Pod that you aren't happy with and think you would use if they sounded better, then look around for substitutes.I've no experience with a Road King, so I'm gonna ask, is the clean good? Cos if you're not that happy with it, then you could look into getting a good clean amp - Fender Twin or Ampeg VT-22(?) for example.

I've decided to ditch the AB-Y idea. It doesn't really affect my tone THAT much to warrant spending the extra money.
I don't know if its worth the time, but I was considering getting a volume pedal to put in the FX loop. Only problem then is that I have a patch lead running nowhere from my series loop so I can use the solo button as an instant mute. I will just put my tu-2 back in my current set up at the end of my pedal board. 2 tuners could come in handy I guess... I'll put the POD on Bypass. My current Phaser setting on my POD isn't the best. Its very... not great. It seems like the wetness varies, depending on where the phase is. I'm not much of an expert at clean sounds. Infact I don't know if what I've got sounds good. It sounds pretty decent to me. I know in a live situation, Dave Grohl ditched the Dual Recto + AC30 rig for a Road King, so I'm guessing the cleans aren't that bad. It helps that I put them at 20 watts above everything else. I'm not much of a studio person. I'm actually the type of person that if I wanted awesome cleans in the studio, then I'd just hire a Fender or Vox for the day. Most of my cleans have been plastered with Chorus anyway - Kyuss fan. The coolest thing out of it all is that it all fits together really nicely. I'm just gunna get a pedal board made up about 65cms x 40 cms and everything will fit in snuggly. |

I've got a AKG Guitarbug wireless and I love it. Battery has lasted forever, never crapped out on me, and its nice having the little bug instead of the battery pack. You need a wireless for live playing though. Once you play with one, you will never want to play with cables again. Also if you are still thinking about the AB, check out www.loooper.com. Great products, true bypass, not too expensive. I'm sure you could find something there, if not, Dave can custom build you one.

I really would like a Fuzz Wah setting on this thing. I'm using my crybaby after my XT but I very rarely have any distortion on. I put the Big Muff model on and used my Crybaby and I loved the wacked out sound. Only problem is that I can't turn them on and off at the same time.
I don't know how much I want to use a Fuzz Wah so I don't really want to go buy another pedal. If someone knows how to move the effects so the wah is after the distortion in the XT Live, feel free to let me know!! |
