Arrow Wren's live rig (with pics), plus pics of some other toys

OK, here we go. With this setup, I play in a weird metal band; you can listen to us (quickly self-recorded) here.

Guitars:
Washburn WG587 with a Dimarzio Blaze Custom in the bridge and Dimarzio Blaze neck in the neck (where else?). Ibanez DT250 with a Dimarzio X2N in the bridge and an Ibanez neck pickup from a Paul Gilbert signature.

Pedalboard/rack/etc. chain is:
Guitar -> Boss PH2 -> Ibanez AW7 -> Boss NS2 (in NS2 loop: Delorean KROK passive TBP/feedback loop [in KROK loop: MIJ Boss OD2 -> Indyguitarist customized Sputter Fuzz -> AMT DistStation]) -> Arion SFL1 -> Arion SAD1 -> Arion SAD1 -> Zoom G2.1u -> Boomerang + -> [rack] Marshall 9004 Preamp -> Rane PE15 -> Tsunami EQ-215L (in stereo) -> Marshall 8008 power amp (in stereo) -> homeade 2x12 (speakers: Eminence Swamp Thang and Legend V128) and 1x15 (Eminence Big Ben).

Pedals are powered by Godlyke w/daisy chain; everything plugged into Furman RP8.

I use only Lava Canare Cables.

Short-term plans are: buy a bigger road case which I will make into a more permanent and road-worthy pedalboard as well as add another power supply (I've reach my max of 10 on that daisy chain, now I need another). Also planning on TBPing and modding my crybaby and sticking it on there at some point, but unfortunately I have a life complete with work, school, girlfriend, etc. outside of guitar activities, so that may not happen for another six months to a year. And last but not least, I want to put all my pedals/guitars/etc. that I have currently taken apart back together and fix/modify them the way I'd intended to when they were first taken apart (this is extremely wishful, and very unlikely to happen for quite awhile).

Long-term plans are: another (smaller) pedalboard that will be in a TBP loop to turn on and off; I'm thinking a deeper phaser, another SAD1 ( ), a chorus (preferrably a Boss Dimension or something similar), my G2 that's lying around, possibly a light flanger, possibly a volume pedal, and an octave pedal. The idea with this pedalboard is kind of an instant "shimmer"/ambient/drone-y sound. In the rack, I'm planning on adding a 31-band EQ with a hipass filter and removing the Tsunami; I've noticed that it thins things out a little when it isn't bypassed. I'm also hoping to add a small Roland JC for a three-cab-type setup (1x15 for bass response and grind, 2x12 for cut, high end and clarity, the JC for a high-end wash w/more reverb and some chorus). And looking even further into the future, I'm looking to get an Akai MFC42 for my rack (and some kind of MIDI device to control it), a Maxon AD999, and a few more fuzzy noisemakers.

I'm also thinking of (gasp!) swapping out my beloved X2N from my Ibanez; it's just a touch too trebley for my current band, and as I'm not tuning it down to C standard anymore (it's in E standard), it sounds really trebley, especially in contrast to the 7 string. I've looked into other (similar) pickups, and I'm completely stumped as to what I want.

Anyway, that's that. Questions/comments/suggestions welcome!

How's the AW7?
I've been looking at it for glitchy sweeps with a delay.

Also if you like the sound of the G2 and hate the feedback you can tune it out with the equalizer - With the amp at a level just before things start to feedback, turn up each slider one by one, if the slider causes feedback turn it down a touch, otherwise put it back where it was. At the end things should be much more stable.

AW7 would work well for that; I essentially use it as a small, budget Microsynth that sweeps down, and it's great. Combine it with some other fuzzes/distortion boxes, and it'll really start acting strange, with its filter, and the other box's frequency response, etc. The fuzz that's built into it is beautifully nasty and noisy. Sometime within the next week, I'll be putting up some soundclips of my custom Sputter Fuzz; one of the clips is the AW7 before the Sputter Fuzz, and it sounds like the earth is melting; it's great.

And I've tuned a good bit of the feedback out of the G2 with the parametric, and the rest is taken care of by the NS2, so the feedback isn't really a problem anymore, but it still feels like the signal is too hot, even though I don't run much distortion at all; the gain knob on my Keeley MT2 never goes beyond 10:00.

Cool stuff, Wren. Man, I haven't seen a DT250 in ages, the other guitar player in my high school band used to play one of those, like over 20 years ago.

It's a great guitar (MIJ, '84). I love it. The construction isn't perfect in detail (the neck and the bridge aren't lined up very well) but it plays beautifully, feels great, sounds great, it's really really solidly built, it's perfectly balanced for me, and it's sooo light. They're definitely amazing guitars, especially for the price they usually go for on ebay and such.

And thanks for reminding me about this thread; I kind of need to update it a little.

You're the chap with the love for the Dimarzio Blaze, correct? I've found somewhere that stocks them for £50 each, so one's in my future, I tried a D Sonic and didn't like it much.

Yup, the Blaze Custom is the sh*t. The normal Blaze bridge has no depth (IMO), but the Custom is where it's at. The Custom and the Blaze II, but you can't find those, and I know we've had that discussion before.

I can find the Blaze custom and Blaze original, I thought it was the Blaze you raved about.

All the similar names confuse me.

Nope, Blaze Custom is my weapon of choice. Blaze Custom or Blaze II, but [begins to go in circle].

Haha, thanks. And I'm actually going to be swapping out that X2N sometime this summer; it's just a little too thin in comparison. Not sure what I'll replace it with though.

And thanks for reminding me to update this ****er; I've made a few changes that should be noted.

UPDATE: I've swapped my Keeley Metal Zone for an AMT DistStation. The DistStation is better in every imaginable way.

Also, I've swapped the stock neck pickup in the Washburn for a Dimarzio Blaze neck pickup, and the lead sound I'm getting now has me *holds fingers very close together* this close to finally taking my Big Muff off my board. Don't know what I'll replace it with; maybe I'll finally get around to modding my wah or getting a Weeping Demon or something.
