A metal song? You could write about a number of things. Here are a few of my favorite topics for metal songs:
1. Kickin' someone's ass
2. War, death, destruction, etc.
3. Wizards, warlocks, dragons and other fantasy bull****
4. Rockin' out, head-bangin'
5. Gettin' wasted
6. Gettin' laid
7. Anger and aggression in general
8. Politics and current events

Write a metal song about a near death experience

Example: Car crash, drowning, your girlfriend is 3 weeks late...

Write a 30 odd minute continuation of Manowar's "Achilles, The Agony and The Ecstacy In 8 Parts." Base yours on The Odyssee

Yeah, i was just joking earlier.

Write about whatever motivates you. You can write a bad ass metal song without cliche themes.

This is just my opinion, but i've always felt that metal for the most part is 90% musically driven and 10% vocally. Most of the time your locked into the riff, not what the singer is singing about (or if you can even understand them half the time).

Don't throw out any ideas lyrically because it might not be "metal" enough.

Hell, Alexi from Children Of Bodom could be singing about his new kitten for all i know, it's still baddass stuff.

Just go for it man

yeah, i've noticed that, alexi doesn't do a lot of singing in the songs, I love how the keyboard and guitar battle though, maybe i should get a keyboardist.

You guyz forgot about a three sex, girls, drugs like Judas Priest, and Megadeath and Guns N' Roses. But as long as you hav a kick-a$$ riff it doesnt really matter look at Master of Puppets

Or velvet, that'd be hardcore, too!

Or Satan, if you're into all that quasi-religious evil crap.

Write a tasty pro-Jesus song. Or actually, a pro-Buddhism song. There aren't enough pro-Buddhism metal songs out there.

Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places
