Description:

A detailed gear diagram of Chuck Schuldiner's Death stage setup that traces the signal flow of the equipment in his 1993 "Individual Thought Patterns" touring guitar rig.

Artist/Tech Quote:

"I don't use very many effects - maybe for a little chorus on my leads here and there. When it comes right down to it, I like a very solid and simple setup." - Chuck Schuldiner

Interview Date:

N/A

GuitarGeek Notes:

This rig was compiled from various concert photos, live footage, and old guitar magazine interviews. We are still researching whether or not Chuck used the Marshall Valvestate Footswitch for engaging the amp channels for leads. Any additional information and insight is welcomed - and encouraged.

Signal Flow

Chuck's simple setup consisted of a pair BC Rich Stealth guitars loaded with DiMarzio X2N Pickups, a Marshall 8100 head and a Marshall VS412 Cabinet. This stripped-down approach defied the rack-mentality of the era, and allowed Chuck to concentrate on his playing.
