Not only do Mutron effects win big points for design but they sound great. The Octave Divider is one of the few pitch devices that actually sounds organic. It's warm and thick and tracks very well. When it does waver it ends up sounding so damn cool, you can't help but forgive its quirkiness. As with most octave effects, the Octave Divider performs best when whipping out single note work. It take a little practice to play to the effect but once you've got the knack the results can be is dazzling. Great examples of the Mutron at work can be heard on the recordings of The Grateful Dead, Peter Frampton, and Primus. The controls are large and thoughtfully placed and an abundance of bright LEDs keep you posted as to the effects status. Dialing up a great sound is dead simple and you'll be up and running within minutes. |
