Three very different modes are found in this shiny silver box. Fuzz Mode One is going for that vintage fuzztone sixties sound, Fuzz Mode Two is a razor sharp buzz with a futuristic techno vibe, and the Boost Mode provides a robust clean boost. Modes One is a nod to fuzz sounds made popular by the Stones, the Kinks, and Hendrix. It ranges from nasty and nasal to warm and thick, but unlike vintage fuzz units, the FZ-2 doesn’t clean up nicely when rolling off your guitar’s volume pot. Mode Two’s fuzz is so completely over the top and I can see why it is the chunky choice of bands like the Deftones and Orgy. It’s ultra streamlined and tight and can mangled a guitar signal like no other pedal. The Boost mode has a nice transparent bump with just enough EQ options to support any dynamic moments you’ve got going on.
