3 knobs and one mode switch take care of your rate, depth , and resonance chores while a mode knob switch between two different filter modes. The little green PH-2 has it's own unmistakable voice in the phaser spectrum and it's all up to taste on whether it'll work for you. For us, Mode One borders very close to the bright and tinny side of things but has just enough watery whoosh to keep it from sounding completely sterile. If you're after a warm and buttery phaser you may have some issues with the Boss and I'd look elsewhere. Where the PH-2 shines is in the resonant squawk of Mode Two. It has that honk of mid-range raspiness that sits perfectly in the mix of funk and disco, or any other booty moving music. It's very punchy but can turn a song from square to cool in no time. |
