This discontinued gem offers 11 different modes of delay, chorus, arpeggiator and pitch shift variations. As a delay pedal this is very similiar to most of the Boss DD series. Up to 2 seconds of crisp dependable delay, with just a hint of of that trademarked metallic ping. It's not the most musical delay but really seems to cut through onstage and on tape. The Chorus functions are useful and surprisingly lush. Depending on the settings you can even muster up a faint vibrato or weak flanger. The Shift Modes, despite their slight tracking quirks, are a lot of fun. If you need spot on shifting, get a Whammy, but for all around noisemaking at a decent price, the PS3 is right on! The typical octave up and down functions behave nicely and manage all sorts of synth-like duties. Dialing in harmonies is a little tough and definitely not one of the PS-3's high points. The remaining arpeggiator and expression pedal functions make this one useful stomper. |
